So I tried Uninstalling all other addons, and have it work alone, but even then it still crashes, which is odd since your EP2 background work fine with and without the other mods

Honestly I'm not sure what could be causing it. Seems to work for most people, so must something very specific in this case

having the same issue, but i'm positive it's conflicting with another addon, since it worked fine earlier today before i added a whole list of visual replacement mods. i'm sorry to say i'd rather remove this than go through and disable every addon i have until i find out what it is, but i want to say that this and the EP2 background are amazing scenes and you did a great job regardless of source modding spaghetti.

Do you know which mods caused this? maybe I missed something

just confirmed that it's a conflict, i clicked disable all, enabled only this and then started episode 1 without issue, most of the mods i had enabled were either HD textures or HLA model swaps which is what i'm sure is causing issues. i don't know which specific mods you'd need to remove but i can't check now, hope that helps.

So yeah just uninstalled and reinstalled all again... perfectly fine now

Now I'm curious what addon causes such conflict

i just figured out what it was in my end, it was the HL:A strider replacer: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3368025207

this version only works on base HL2 and will crash the game whenever a strider gets loaded into the episodes.
