A novel, tedious challenge. 3/5 stars.

The Evil Within 2 is both more ambitious and more tiresome than its predecessor. I wouldn't know if it's a good adaptation of the source material, but thankfully it has a strong enough atmosphere to stand on its own. It uses sound and music well to build a sense of dread, and the visuals aren't too bad either. I was especially impressed by the animation and choreography in the cutscenes! I'm also glad that mandatory puzzles are gone this time around, although there are still points where the way forward is unclear.

There are significantly more bosses than last time, but unfortunately they're not very fun to fight now. Their health is annoyingly high unless you bring a party of four, and some of them do too much damage considering how scarce supplies are in this campaign. My biggest grievances were Lisa from PT instantly killing survivors and the final boss fight going on too long.

Overall, this mod isn't bad, but it's an inconsistent experience.
