There's this little demo album "Chicken Scratch" from 1993 by a band called "Jimmie's Chicken Shack" coming all the way from Maryland, I Emailed the front-man "Jimi Haha / James Davies" himself about the album and he said it was released sometime in early/mid 93, So I think it would fit right within the time period.
