Left 4 Dead 2

Timesplitters campaign
Kyle's Review of "Timesplitters" - 2/5
Kinda fun, painfully short. 2/5 stars.

Timesplitters is a campaign based on the classic FPS series of the same name, and although I haven't played the originals (yet), I still enjoyed the premise. Traveling through time is a fun concept for L4D2 even without accompanying nostalgia, and the two maps feel very distinct from one another thanks to lots of custom assets. Aesthetics are overall a bit primitive, but there are a few nice looking areas I enjoyed exploring.

Unfortunately, the mod's fatal flaw is its short length. I'm a staunch defender of 3-map and even 2-map campaigns as a valid form of design, but this simply doesn't feel finished. There's no intro cutscene, no dialogue, bot navigation is iffy, Map 1 is mostly spent going up and down staircases, Map 2 is just a safe room and a finale, and so on. I could forgive some of this if it was part of a larger whole with lots of time traveling, but as is, it ends right when it's getting good. I'd only recommend this to Timesplitters fans.
