BALANCE UPDATE - ADVICE ON HOW TO IMPROVE MOLLI POP
Hey all, thanks a lot for the constructive feedback you gave on the character 👍 I'm so happy Molli Pop was so well recieved even though she's such a flawed character. I'm looking to get back into Rivals modding and I want to change Molli for the better.

The main complaints and nitpicks I gathered are:

  • Side Special is pretty much useless / hard to setup in a meaningful way
  • Nair is too polarizing in combos and grants too much reward
  • She lacks killpower and struggles to finish off stocks
  • She's missing original sound effects from Candies n Curses (actually she's missing a lot of sfx in general that's my fault)

In light of these considerations, here are the changes I was planning to make:

    Normals:
  • Nair comes out slower and sends sideways instead of upwards.
    Thinking of making similar to clairen's nair, i want it to be harder to spam.
  • Bair has more knockback & base knockback.
    Useful kill move.
  • Fair has more knockback & knockback scaling, also slightly easier hitboxes to land.
    Also useful kill move, but with an unusual hitbox placing that had a hard time hitting grounded opponents.
  • Jab is hit-cancelable into tilts.
  • Dtilt has more knockback and sends at a horizontal angle.
    Kind of like Jigglypuff's dtilt.
  • Ftilt has less knockback, launches closer to molli pop and has slightly more whifflag.

    Specials:
  • Side Special: the bomb comes out faster and explodes faster.
    I was thinking 0.5s of animation before you're actionable again, and the bomb with a timer of 3.5s. Also the bomb will have heavier physics (it will travel though the air at a faster rate) and the animation could gradually tell the player how long until the bomb explode (like the animation speeds up or the bomb slowly changes color)

I actually haven't applied these updates yet, so let me know if you agree with these hypothetical changes or you would like to see a different gameplay approach.👍
