It is intentional for Hirelings to high-five when they kill or knock down an enemy. Some Hirelings do it every time, some Hirelings do not. I intend to eventually make that something that only has a chance to happen, even for Hirelings with the relevant behaviour.
For your Disquieted, this is the result of a behaviour called DynamicSwap, a behaviour that makes the character swap weapons if they aren't in the effective range of their current weapon. This basically means that if they're holding a melee weapon and not close to an enemy, they'll swap, and if they're holding a ranged weapon while being in melee range, they'll swap. The easiest solution to this issue is to give them a ranged sidearm, as the DynamicSwap behaviour is prone to issues if they don't have both a melee and ranged weapon.
