my first thought is to send a bomb through much like the video of the mod but I also thought its a good way to cut someone of from his/her protection by isolating them only able to bring a certain amount of people.you could disable it then kill the person (best if its a leader kind of person).

Or keep a gate dialled in and then attack them by ship

Wraith tactics, I like it.

Using a gate as a beachhead

Always have your Stargate in a well accessable area in case of evacuation.

my best plan was to throw a warhead through it, on a timer, cutting off the gate on the other side, and killing a major part of the ship

That gave me an idea, making a satellite gate like in Atlantis, but instead of a laser going through just fire through loads of warheads, the enemy would be lucky to even see it coming let alone defend against it.

precisely, the aftermath would be disaster for the enemy, and would probably cause vital component damage

Not to mention the fact that your ammo production would be untouched if they destroyed that satellite, meaning all you have to do is spent a tiny amount of resources for another one to continue the attack...I can't think of a more destructive or efficient way to deliver bombs really.

and, as an added bonus, the gate might be destroyed at a cost, you cannot keep attacking, but you have cut off all enemy connection utterly to other ships/stations without the enemy flying there. nasty way of attack, i love it!

I see so many ways of attack here, but what about DEFENSE, huh?

There has to be ways to defend your base with the Stargate.

Well the iris solves a direct attack, not sure how else it could work, if you have a grouping of asteroids you could hollow some of the small ones out and put a gate in them to use as emergency escapes?

you could set up a trap and place a stargate in an asteroid, facing an astreroid (if the target is a ship travelling fast through the gate), placed in a room full of turrets and much much more. Stay tuned to the discussion for more ;)

would be useful for mass deployment of small ships or drones and could quickly deploy ships and drones to parts of your territory as quick and efficient defence
A spring loaded warhead launcher. Send a drone carrier thru that has a cluster bomb on it that separates and shoots out bomblets everywhere away from the gate. redial and then invade with a fighter and a constructor.
