Hard Rain: Downpour
Kyle's Review of "Hard Rain: Downpour" - 4/5
A solid alternative. 4/5 stars.

If you ask me, Hard Rain: Downpour is a "sidegrade" to the official campaign -- better in some ways, worse in others. The biggest improvement is adding more dry land in the latter half of the campaign to cut down on the monotony of wading through water without outright removing it, which was a smart choice. The new additions to the levels are also great. They look fantastic and blend in perfectly, and although they're not always a direct improvement, at least they're never worse than the original.

Despite the great aesthetics and design, there are many issues with polish. Safe room music is busted throughout the campaign, there's hardly any Survivor dialogue, and what dialogue is there is often wrong because it's describing the layout of the official campaign. Map 2 also has a normal amount of Witches. In general, this remix cuts a lot of what made Hard Rain unique.

Still, it's worth a go. You'll feel like you're playing Hard Rain for the first time again.

Totally agree especially with the last point. I have a lot of mixed feelings with the sugarmill area, not because of the witches but the bushes and flora in the way. It's tedious to navigate because you can't see really far and it's also dark, but traversing through two such factory areas is the most memorable experience I've got (in expert mode). There are always witches and special infected so the team must stay together. The sugarmills in Downpour are clean but they resembled too much the traditional factory interiors - nothing really unique.

I will say, until they fix the issues caused by the TLS update, this map will be a downgrade to me.
