Total War: WARHAMMER III

Total War: WARHAMMER III

OvN Lost Factions: Dread King Legions
Overly unified models of antique helmets and shields
I haven't added this OVN faction in a long time because skeletons in Greek helmets and Roman helmets with antique shields still strike me not as ancient warriors rising from the dead, but as zombies looting museums and historical reenactment clubs. Have not the crests on Roman helmets decayed? Are not the colors of the images on Greek shields fading? Helmets and shields are almost identical in their monotony, cartoonish rather than horrifying.
Logically speaking, it's not very realistic. It would be more interesting to see not clones of Greek phalangists and legionnaires, but something more varied, something that can really open up the imagination about very, very ancient warriors.
But despite this I am glad that this mod was made and it also added to my collection. OvN developers always make me happy with their surprises.:lunar2020halodragon:

I'd add this mod is more appropriate for Total War: Troy - Mythos.

Pass for WH3.

Or you could maybe take in consideration that this is not the real world but rather Warhammer. Strangely enough, you two seems to have gone "muh it's not historically accurate". Which yeah ? It was never the team intentions

It's not about historical accuracy, but rather about creating the right atmosphere and a certain fantasy sequence. Otherwise, for example, druids or gnomes would have long since used AK-47s instead of crossbows.
The exhibits from Ancient Greece give the impression that the modelers lacked imagination and decided to borrow from R2TW instead of creating interesting elements.

You do realise that plenty of cultures in warhammer fantasy are based on real life cultures right? And as such, their soldiers resemble to varying degrees the soldiers of said cultures. Yet, here you are complaining of modders doing the exact same thing.

You're right about imagination, but no one's complaining. It's just a matter of realism and atmosphere. The thing is, horsehair plumes on Greek or Roman helmets can't stay intact after a thousand years in a grave. Similarly, bronze or iron shields after many centuries are only fragments from which archaeologists assemble more or less complete exhibits (unless we are dealing with ceremonial items that were not used in battle).
Therefore, the warriors of antiquity who rose from their graves simply could not have preserved not only such complete armor, but even more so the crests of their helmets.
In my opinion, this is where at least some realism should be present, rather than the tragicomic logic of an immature artist who does not know the principles of archaeology.
All that is needed is to refine some details in the models. And not resort to the first stereotypes that come to mind.
