Put it in an accessory slot, and it will double place and break range. this although causes the blocks outside your original range to be mined slower.

No that is the Bricklayer's Mallet, which is an accessory that does what you stated. But I am talking about the Bricklayer's Trowel, which is an item that supposedly "extends blocks in a straight line"
