1) Mercia - 30 turns in I got wiped out by East Angles, but it was self-inflicted since I made poor strategic choices.
2) Northumbria - 45 turns in, 2 factions already eliminated (West Saxons and Leinster), got attacked by Mercia, beat them badly in a single battle. Next turn got attacked by East Angles with an almost full-stack army, they pushed me out of 2 settlements immediately. I think I'll be wiped out in the next 10 turns.
Definitely a challenging mod.
you can also add the viking invasion logo on the main menu very easily too!
But Wales, that's a tough one. I united Wales, lost Cornwall, then waged long war against Mercia, depleting them badly. Northumbria, my allies, betrayed me, so I had to fight against three Anglosaxon kingdoms at once.
And then the Vikings from Norway landed on my western shores, with a powerful stack. Tried to stop them with a motley crew of peasants, mercs and spearmen I love hopeless campaigns and Wales in this mod is really epic. I would keep on fighting, but my save got corrupted.
But apart from that, it's a nice mod which doesn't turn into a cakewalk in a midgame.
