source engine (the engine gmod runs on) probably will not cope with large maps with those games level of detail, especially gta 5's map, mainly because of the engine differences, i think infmap might do things a bit differently to this but i have no idea
I don't think it will ever be possible to do although, one of the Liberty City islands like Broker or Dukes with major performance tweaks will hit the Workshop any time now.

the hd maps use megatextures so they would be impossible to port

the maps file size could be 18gb to 25 gb i think

uh mark2580, no they are indeed endless, but these use the obj loader so the map doesn't extend more than the model does, but the base map for example has code which generates terrain, you should check out the explanation video if you don't understand how it works

also gta 4 and 5 maps would most likely never work in gmod, the collision model would be too detailed

the San Andreas map on Garry's Mod consumes 600 edicts by default as is while the limit is 8192 so a gta 5 version will likely be too much unless the collision entities and such get added then removed when moving around the map but it could have the game freeze much more frequently also the game does not have a proper asset management system for big maps so it will load every texture and model to memory without a way of unloading those which means the game could instantly consume over 30 gigabytes of memory while I have only 16 gigabytes of that

even if hypothetically you could port the map into Garry's mod You would need like a NASA computer to run it source engine just is not powerful enough for that
