Otto = ("I hope you're right, I need a rest and a drink of my whiskey. Too much running...")

[Anton walks towards Otto and stops right behind him]

Anton = ("God Otto, this is a really odd whiskey you have here...")
Kurt = ("Don't take his canteen from him like that Anton.")
Otto = ("Heh heh... of course it tastes odd. That's my piss canteen you got in your hand!")

[Friedrich appears and walks past everyone]

Friedrich = ("Anton... stop drinking from Otto's piss canteen and scout up ahead. We need you to do something helpful now!")

[Anton walks past Kurt and Otto]

Anton = ("Urgh... Gladly...")

[The group approaches wooden bridge. Anton suddenly appears and runs towards them and then past the group. Soviet units appear behind Anton and are chasing him]

Anton = ("Run, run, RUN!")

[The group retreats towards the path to their west and then south. All characters run along a road guarded by Soviet units on both sides]

Friedrich = ("Oh ♥♥♥♥! Soviets behind us too! Into the woods now!")

[Soviet T-34 appears from the bushes and tries to intercept the group]

Otto = ("What the ♥♥♥♥ did you do to get the entire Red Army after us Anton?!")
Anton = ("I just wanted his vodka! Is that so much to ask?!")
Otto = ("Look around you and tell me what you think the answer is!!!")
Friedrich = ("Apprently running for our lives is not enough to shut you two up!!!")

[The group approaches the church guarded by Soviets and spots Soviet officer]

Soviet Officer = ("I'm under attack! Requesting artillery support! Now!")

[The group passes the church and the woods and the mortar trench. The group approaches another village with friendly women lined on both sides of the road]

Ulrich = ("Only women here?")
Kurt = ("Something about these women looks odd...")

[Upon approaching the village center, the women disappear into houses and reappear as enemy partisan units]

Friedrich = ("Ah God! I should have seen this coming! Get to cover now!")

[Upon killing all enemy partisan units]

Otto = ("A true waste of good lives...")
Anton = ("They just tried to dress up in women's clothes to kill us! You'll excuse me if I don't share your high opinions about them.")
Friedrich = ("Do you think they just decided to dress in civilian clothing to kill you Anton? They follow orders just like any other person in any other army.")
Friedrich = ("Despite their efforts, you just killed them, not the other way around, so show some respect.")
Friedrich = ("The main casualty in war is always ordinary people, in truth, they are no different from us...")

[The group approaches a camp littered with Soviet corpses. Two Axis soldiers are fighting with Soviet conscripts. The Axis soldiers win]

Ulrich = ("Hey don't shoot! We're friendlies!")
Kurt = ("Whoa! Did you guys kill all these Soviets?")
Tomislav = ("It was mostly Hans here, but I'll take the credit if he doesn't want it.")
Hans = ("...")
Anton = ("Wait... Tomi? Tomislav Novak?")
Tomislav = ("ANTON!!! My God! What are you doing here?!")
Anton = ("I was going to ask you the same thing!")
Tomislav = ("Ah... your mother tasked me with bringing you home Anton. If I wasn't captured by the Soviets I might have found you sooner.")
Anton = ("When was this?! When did you set out?")
Tomislav = ("Almost a year ago I think.")
Anton = ("Oh... oh... I see...")
Anton = ("Tomi... everyone back home is dead. I'm deserting with my friends to claim the inheritance to the estate in Switzerland.")
Tomislav = ("Oh good God... dead? And you're deserting? Amongst all this madness! You really put me in a strange position Anton.")
Anton = ("Sorry Tomi, but I reckon my chances of surviving this war with the Wehrmacht isn't that high.")
Tomislav = ("Urgh... I can't blame you. Fine, I guess it's time for me to go rogue.")
Otto = ("And what about your friend Hans?")
Tomislav = ("Oh I only met him an hour ago... Hey Hans! Do you want to join us? We're deserting!")

[If the group approaches large Soviet outpost towards the north]

Soviet Officer = ("Overwatch outpost is under attack! Get a light mortar barrage on that position now!")

Soviet Officer = ("Bah! We're under attack! Call in spare shock units from the rear!")

[If the group approaches the path towards the south]
[The group meets Michael Wittman driving a Tiger tank. Michael stops his tank]

Tomislav = ("Is that a Tiger tank?")
Anton = ("I wonder what it's doing alone out here...")
Kurt = ("What? Is that you Michael?!")
Michael = ("Bachmann? Kurt? Since when did you take on the business of conducting suicide missions? Ha ha!")
Kurt = ("Wittman! You wonderful ass! What the hell are you doing here?! I heard you died on the western front!")
Michael = ("Command substituted me with another poor guy on the day... unfortunately the rest of my crew were really killed...")
Michael = ("They gave me this nice uniform and apparently everything is supposed to be fine. Anyway, you are either here on a suicide mission or deserting. So which is it?")
Kurt = ("Ah you know me! I've always wanted to go to Switzerland.")
Michael = ("Huh... is that it? Well I'm actually here on a suicide mission.")
Michael = ("But since nobody really expects me and the lads to return... I guess a slight detour to help an old friend past enemy defenses wouldn't matter much.")
Kurt = ("Are you sure about this Wittman? It could be dangerous up ahead...")
Michael = ("You forget one crucial fact Bachmann... I'm Michael Wittman!")
Kurt = ("Heh... You pompous ass.")
Ulrich = ("If only everyone had this much confidence in your abilities...")

[The group captures the point before the first set of Soviet defences]

Michael = ("Ready or not Kurt, I'm moving out!")

[Michael stops his tank just outside of the first set of Soviet defences]

Michael = ("♥♥♥♥! They have quite a few anti-tank guns in that fortification. You guys should clear it out before we move on.")
Ulrich = ("No wonder he is legendary... he is probably the only one alive after every battle if he gets others to fight them like this...")

[The group clears the first set fo Soviet defences]

Michael = ("I'm moving forward. Try to keep up!")

[Michael drives forward and stops his tank just outside the second set of Soviet defences]

Michael = ("I see an enemy artillery position on that small high ground. You guys should neutralize it before we proceed.")
Anton = ("He's losing my respect at an incredibly fast rate right now.")

[The group clears the second set of Soviet defences. Michael drives his tank forward and stop just outside the third set of Soviet defences]

Michael = ("Nice work everyone! I've been doing some observation while you were away...")
Michael = ("There is a formidable series of Soviet trench defensive positions ahead.")
Friedrich = ("Yes, I had a look too. There is no way to sneak past it.")
Friedrich = ("There is no way to sneak past it and there is only one available path for your tank to attack Michael...")
Friedrich = ("The rest of us should split into two groups. Otto and Ulrich will assault the left treeline with me...")
Friedrich = ("Kurt, Anton, Tomislav and Hans can take the right river flank. Any objections?")
Michael = ("Sounds good to me.")
Hans = ("...")
Friedrich = ("Good. Let's move!")

[The group clears the third set of Soviet defences]

Michael = ("Not bad guys! Not bad at all!")
Ulrich = ("♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ easy to say in your mobile pillbox...")
Kurt = ("Ha! That was really intense Wittman! But we made it!")
Tomislav = ("Whoa! I think we may have been better at the internment camp. Right Hans?")
Hans = ("...")
Tomislav = ("Forget I asked...")

[Michael drives his tank forward and stop just outside the fourth set of Soviet defences]

Michael = ("Enemy compound ahead. I should probably be vanguard, looks like a trap.")

[Michael drives his tank forward but it is a Soviet ambush. The group fights against the Soviets and win. The group continues along the path and across a wooden bridge. Once everyone crosses the bridge the bridge collapses, leaving no way back]

Tomislav = ("This is a terribly bad place to be. Dense shrubs on both sides. I can't see anything past them.")
Friedrich = ("Agreed. Someone needs to scout ahead. Anton, take the lead!")
Tomislav = ("What? Why does it he have to do it? He doesn't have much combat experience. I'll do it.")
Anton = ("It's not a problem Tomi, we've got each other's backs. I've been scouting ahead with these guys for weeks now. I'll be fine.")

[Anton walks ahead. A Soviet tank suddenly drives over the bush from Anton's left side. The Soviet tank approaches Anton and kills him]

Tomislav = ("ANTON!!! NO!!!")
Friedrich = ("♥♥♥♥! ♥♥♥♥! Oh God... ♥♥♥♥!!!")
*Friedrich now suffers from guilt. He should be more hesitant to make decisions from here onwards.
Michael = ("Get your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ together and find yourselves some suitable weapons for this fight! NOW!!!")

[The group fights against waves of Soviet tanks and wins. Eventually an elite Soviet tank appears]

Michael = ("Those markings... the tank of Igor Oktyabrskaya! Ha ha ha! Finally! An enemy tanker worthy of a true challenge!")

[The group destroys Igor's tank]

Tomislav = ("Anton... Oh God Anton... I'm so sorry...")
Hans = ("... Do not cry...")
Tomislav = ("Just... leave me be... please....")
Otto = ("Friedrich, talk to me my friend.")
Friedrich = ("Not again... not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AGAIN!")

Kurt = ("The shooting has stopped...")
Otto = ("Yeah... I wonder who won...")
Kurt = ("Hey! you'll be fine. You'll make it out of this!")
Otto = ("Heh heh... thanks. I have memories of my wife Marta and my children to keep me going.")
Kurt = ("That's right! One step at a time to the end.")

[The group approaches the capture point]

Kurt = ("So what do I call your children when we get to Switzerland?")
Otto = ("Walther is the older one, he is twelve now. Anna is nine. I had her not long before the war.")
Kurt = ("Marta, Walther and Anna. It must be pretty comfortable with them around Christmas time eh?")
Otto = ("Ha ha yeah... Hopefully we can join them before this Christmas.")
Kurt = ("Heh... that'll be nice. I haven't had a good Christmas in a long time...")

[The group fights past the Soviet rearguard and reaches a walled village on a hill occupied by task force 'Himmelsdorf'. Jozef walks towards the group to greet them]

Jozef = ("You must be the reinforcements we requested! Are more coming?")
Tomislav = ("What reinforcements? We are not your reinforcements.")
Jozef = ("What are you talking about? You must be it! The Soviets are attacking from the north and Americans and British to the south-east, and you are saying you're not here to help?")
Otto = ("We are not here to help...")
Jozef = ("Just who are you people?! If they attack we are all dead, don't you fools understand that?")
Jozef = ("My name is Jozef. If you know what is good for you, you'll stay here with us and fight this one out...")
Jozef = ("Reinforcements are coming soon anyway, so we just need to hold out until then. I don't care what you are to be honest, I just care about survival!")
Ulrich = ("Unfortunately I do think he is right... there will undoubtedly be more Soviets coming... and if what he says is true, then we are trapped in here for the moment...")
Friedrich = ("Urgh... fine. Everyone just stay alive... please...")

[The group takes up defensive positions inside the walled village. Sounds of enemy planes appear and planes are arriving over the village]

Jozef = ("Air raid! Air raid! AIR RAID!!!")
Otto = ("Oh I've seen this kind of tactic before... this is no raid...")
Hans = ("...")
Hans = ("...Airbourne assault.")

[The group repels the first American and Commonwealth attack]

Jozef = ("Soviet counterattack! We must re-position to the north!")
Otto = ("How long do we need to hold out here?")
Jozef = ("I don't know, I'm not all-knowing!")
Otto = ("Yeah! I can really see that!")

[The group repels the Soviet attack. Enemy artillery strikes then destroys parts of the village wall]

Jozef = ("Mobile vehicles incoming!")
Friedrich = ("Keep yourselves mobile! Move!")
Jozef = ("Where is that relief force Jozef?")
Otto = ("Shut up and keep firing!")

[The group repels the second American and Commonwealth attack]

Jozef = ("The Americans and British are pushing from the south-east again! Move!")
Otto = ("Where are those reinforcements Jozef!!!")
Jozef = ("For the last time, I don't know!")
Otto = ("Damn it Jozef! DO I LOOK LIKE I HAVE AMMO FOR DAYS?!")

[Ulrich abandons the group at some point during the fight. The group repels the third American and Commonwealth attack]
[Ulrich leaves the group]

Friedrich = ("That's it! We can't stay any longer, we're pressing ahead.")
Jozef = ("Deserters right? I am good at seeing these things, I am coming with you.")
Tomislav = ("Good, because this is the end of the road for me... I won't be going with you further.")
Kurt = ("What? Why?!")
Tomislav = ("I came all the way out here for Anton. I have failed, there is no reason for me to go with you any more.")
Friedrich = ("He has made his choice. Anybody else who want to stay behind, do so. Anyone else who wants to keep going, follow me.")
Kurt = ("Where is Ulrich?")
Otto = ("Oh ♥♥♥♥, did we lose Ulrich?")
Jozef = ("I didn't see him, did he just disappear?")
Friedrich = ("We don't have time for this! We need to keep moving, before any more men realize we are deserters and shoot us!")
Friedrich = ("We will see you later Tomislav.")
Tomislav = ("Yes, I'm sure you will...")

[Tomislav leaves the group]
[If the group approaches the outpost towards the south and captures the radio tower]

Jozef = ("Hey! The radio is still working.")
Kurt = ("And a convenient map of the area is here...")
Jozef = ("Let's call for some air back-up shall we? Heh heh...")
Hans = ("... I do not need back-up...")
Jozef = ("Fire command, this is... Task Force Himmelsdorf, we require air support at co-ordinates, four, seven, zero.")
Radio = ("Task Force Himmelssdorf we acknowledge your request and assistance is en-route.")
Otto = ("Heh... Nice!")

[If the group continues east and fights past American and Commonwealth soldiers. the group eventually approaches a bridge where Major Adams, Lieutenant Simmons and Lieutenant Fitzgerald are on the other side of the bridge]

Adams = ("What the hell?! Enemy troops here? Roebuck's attack failed?")
Adams = ("♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, they must have taken Roebuck out. Pull back!")
*Lieutenant Roebuck led the first American and Commonwealth attack on the walled village. He would have been killed by the walled village's defenders

[The group fights through American and Commonwealth forces. The group arrives at a town market where Adams, Simmons and Fitzgerald seems to be trapped]

Adams = ("Well hello boys! Looks like it's just you and us... Simmons! Fitzgerald! Let 'em have it!")
Simmons = ("Right away major!")
Fitzgerald = ("Careful there Simmons, this bunch passed through our front lines... they know their what they're doing.")

[The group have a brief shootout with Adams, Simmons and Fitzgerald. Soon Colonel Winter and Commonwealth soldiers arrive behind the group. The group is now trapped between Adams, Simmons and Fitzgerald in front and Winter with Commonwealth soldiers in the rear]

Jozef = ("Er... we have a problem!")
Winter = ("Why I say chums! You seem to be in a spot of trouble! Look's like you could use a hand.")
Kurt = ("What do we do Friedrich?!")
Friedrich = ("Drop your weapon... there is no hope of winning this fight...")
Otto = ("Damn it!!!")
Hans = ("...")
Winter = ("It does looks like they are surrendering major Adams, wouldn't you agree?")
Simmons = ("I swear to God Fitzgerald... I don't understand most of what this British guy says. Who talks like this?")
Adams = ("Take them away to the holding cell in the city. We'll talk to them later.")

[Iron Hearts 4 - Urban Thunder Script]
[The group appears confined in an open-air prison compound]

Kurt = ("Well... this is bad...")
Friedrich = ("We can't stay here... there is no food here, those corpses don't tell a good story either.")
Jozef = ("It isn't hard to break out of here! This camp doesn't even have gates!")
Otto = ("But there are guards... so if you want to see how many bullets you can take before you die be my guest!")
Friedrich = ("Shhh! Quiet!... The guards are coming...")

[Two American arrive and faces the group]

American Rifleman = ("You! You're coming with us!")
Otto = ("Hans I think they want you to go with them...")
Kurt = ("You speak English?")
Otto = ("My degree was in languages...")
American Rifleman = ("You! Let's go!")
Hans = ("...")
Kurt = ("Now what?")
Friedrich = ("We wait until the guards change shifts and then...")

[Shooting occurs outside of view. Eventually seven Axis soldiers approach the group from the same direction that the American soldiers exited earlier]
*These seven Axis soldiers are part of the renegade train guards

Walter = ("Hey! You all owe us a favor for this!")
Friedrich = ("What? Who are you? What are you doing here?")
Walter = ("Who are we? ... Misfits, profiteers, outlaws... call us whatever you like, it does not matter! Ha ha!")
Kurt = ("...Walter? Fritz?")
Walter = ("Kurt?! Kurt Bachmann?")
Fritz = ("...")
Otto = ("... Another friend from your past Kurt?")
Walter = ("You got that right! Kurt!!! So good to see you... in this place... of all places?")
Friedrich = ("I hate to cut short this reunion but we would like to get those spare weapons you guys are carrying around?")
Walter = ("Yes, yes. Give my old friend the spare guns... and some ammo.")

[Hans returns alone behind the seven Axis soldiers]

Hans = ("...")
Walter = ("Kurt, we need to move. Meet up with us further down the path.")

[The seven Axis soldiers leaves]

Kurt = ("Where did you get that gun?")
Hans = ("... From the Americans...")
Hans = ("... I dislike these new people...")
Jozef = ("Who do you even like Hans?")

[If the group chooses to attack the mansion to the north-east]

American Rifleman = ("What do you mean safe? There is barely anyone left in this part of the city... just a skeleton group left...")

American Paratrooper = ("What the hell?! Run with the intel! NOW!!!")

Friedrich = ("Hey look! There's enemy intelligence here... with their unit positions!")
Friedrich = ("Can you all stand guard while I take a look at these? This intel will be very helpful!")
Kurt = ("Um... erm... I think they know we are here now!")
Friedrich = ("Just buy me some more time. I'm missing a few reference charts...")

[After successfully defending against first wave of attackers]

Jozef = ("Friedrich?! There is more coming you know?")
Friedrich = ("Yes, yes Jozef! Stop your whining and focus on the perimeter please.")
Otto = ("Heh... and you thought I was bad...")
Jozef = ("Believe me I hate you both in equal measure for this! You two are like twins at this ♥♥♥♥!")

[After successfully defending against second wave of attackers]

Jozef = ("Can we ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ go now? I don't think the Americans will stop attacking...")
Hans = ("... They will when they are all dead...")
Jozef = ("Whoa! ... Somebody give this man a medal for his GOD ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ IMPECCABLE LOGIC!!!")
Friedrich = ("Focus Jozef! I'm nearly done!")

[After successfully defending against third wave of attackers]

Kurt = ("Enemy artillery incoming! Watch out!")
Otto = ("FRIEEEEEEDRICH!!!")
Friedrich = ("Nearly have everything. Come on! Just a little bit more time.")
Hans = ("...")

[After successfully defending against fourth wave of attackers]

Friedrich = ("Got it! Let's get out of here!")
Kurt = ("Where are the maps? You did not lose what we came here for did you?!")
Friedrich = ("There were no maps... but flares should be incoming at their positions in three... two... one...")
Jozef = ("This has to be the worst objective I've ever fought for in this war...")

[If the group chooses to take the path to the south. The group engages the American soldiers in the park area]

Walter = ("Didn't feel like discussing with us on engaging the enemy Kurt?")

[After killing all of the American soldiers around the building on the south-west of the park]

Walter = ("Move up! Move up!")
Walter = ("Kurt! Take your men and secure that park, I don't want any surprises coming from that side.")

[The group secures the park and approaches the large building nroth-east of the park. The group is met by American soldiers holding the entrance to the city]

American Paratrooper = ("Those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Krauts are breaking through! Hold this line damn it!!!")
American Paratrooper = ("♥♥♥♥! Kraut Stuka bombs. Get outta the house!")

[Axis soldiers from task force 'Kaiser' arrives to join the fight against the American soldiers from the city entrance. The seven Axis soldiers soon later also joins the fight against the American soldiers. The group eventually kills all the American soldiers]

German Officer = ("We were told there were infiltration units inside the city, but we did not know you would be so effective!")
German Officer = ("Thank you for the assistance! Amazing work!")
Friedrich = ("Yes... that's very nice... no problem...")
Friedrich = ("Something does not feel right... they were expecting us?")
Walter = ("I agree, something isn't right here. My men and I will stay for a while to finish a few things. You go ahead, we will catch up later.")
Kurt = ("Stay safe Walter... Fritz...")

[The group leaves the city fromthe newly secured entrance. The group then arrives at a destroyed bridge leading out of the city area]

Friedrich = ("Damn! The bridge is destroyed!")
Otto = ("The destruction looks recent. Did they have orders to blow up the bridge after they arrive?")
Kurt = ("What purpose would that serve?")
Jozef = ("Yes... This makes very little sense...")
Otto = ("... Nothing in war ever does...")

[The group heads through the wooded area south-west of the destroyed bridge. The group approaches a trench and radio building and is ambushed by three unmarked assailants]

Unmarked Assailant = ("It's Kurt! Hit him now! Go go go!!!")
Kurt = ("What? Who are these people?!")
Friedrich = ("They're targeting us! Return fire, return fire!")

[The group kills the unmark assailants]

Friedrich = ("Unmarked assailants targeting you Kurt... What is the meaning of this?")
Kurt = ("I... I don't know. I can't imagine how they would know me. They do look familiar though...")
Otto = ("I have a feeling we will find answers soon enough...")

[The group approaches a path leading to another entrance into the city. The group is met by a German officer leading task force 'Erwin']

German Officer = ("Hey! Hey! Are you well? We heard shooting.")
Friedrich = ("Yes, yes... We are fine thank you.")
German Officer = ("Oh that's good. Because I would have really hated for anyone else to be injured just before the assault!")
Otto = ("Assault?! The enemy has the city entrances covered!")
German Officer = ("Well... That's the order we've been given by the commander. He mentioned additional help might arrive so I guess that's you...")
Jozef = ("Is that so?...")
German Officer = ("Yes, you all look very experienced. That's very good! Stock up quickly and when you're ready we will attack!")
Friedrich = ("That officer also looks young enough to be my child... This is a terrible idea... ")
Kurt = ("Even I can tell that...")

[The group approaches the city and the assault begins with task force 'Erwin']

German Officer = ("Go! Go! Go! Move as planned!")

[The group advances along the road into the city with task force 'Erwin'. Eventually Lieutenant Simmons appears with American escorts]

Simmons = ("First the Soviets and now you asses...")
Simmons = ("You suckers just won't go down huh?")
Simmons = ("Not a problem, show these Krauts what you're made of boys!")

[The group advances and captures a point. Major Adams, Lieutenant Fitzgerald and American soldier escorts are seen communicating with Colonel Winter and Commonwealth soldier escorts]

Adams = ("Retreat?! Are you outta your mind! We boys will get the job done! It's the American way, it's the only way!")
Winter = ("You need to re-evaluate your situation Adams. What you are contemplating is suicide!!!")
Winter = ("We have Axis forces arriving at all entrances to the city, Soviet remnants still left in the ruins and reports of goshdarn infiltrators all over the city!")
Adams = ("We will stay and finish the job! Lieutenant Fitzgerald! Head to the train station and organize everyone who is left for defense!")
Fitzgerald = ("Yes sir!")
Winter = ("Listen up you Yankee! Unified command or not, my chaps and I are not just going to dillydally around to get slaughtered for some God forsaken gold!")
Winter = ("My men are pulling out! With or without your company! You can keep our tanks in the ruins if your men can use them.")
Adams = ("You talk mighty big Colonel Winter. But they'll hear about how you abandoned my brave boys when the time came! Mark my words!")
Winter = ("...Assuming you live to talk about it.")

[The group advances through the city ruins. The group eventually reaches a ruined cinema where Vladilen and Stator are seen fighting against American soldiers]

Otto = ("Hey look! I recognize that Soviet soldier!")

Otto = ("Look at us! They go out to face the dangers while we sit back here waiting for them to bring food for us.")

Jozef = ("It could be my eyes but I am fairly certain those unmarked men in Wehrmacht uniforms who attacked us are back. A huge number of them just entered the city!")

Kurt = ("Did you see the Soviets anywhere?")
Jozef = ("No, I just saw the Allies fighting those unmarked men. We really need to move, I estimate we have less than two hours before those men can reach here.")
Hans = ("They are less than two hundred meters away...")
Jozef = ("WHAT?! How is that possible? Let me check again. That cannot be right!")
Friedrich = ("Jozef, we have no time! Grab anything you need. We need to get past them right now while they have not dug in. Otherwise we will not have any chance of escaping this city!")

[The group arrives outside of warehouse and fights enemy German units. Soviet group joins the group in the middle of the fight]

Dmitriy = ("Viktor, Yuri! Come with me and push forward!... Aleksei, Nikolai, Vladilen and Stator! Take the high ground and cover us!")
Dmitriy = ("Stator, use suppressing fire! We need to force them into a crossfire!")

[The group kills all the enemy attackers]

Otto = ("That was too close for comfort! Thank you for the intervention.")
Dmitriy = ("Don't thank us yet. There are these uniformed men appearing all over the city chasing us. It won't take them long to get here.")
Dmitriy = ("They are nothing like I've seen from the Wehrmacht lately. No insignias, no base of operations and much better supported than anything the Wehrmacht can muster these days.")
Friedrich = ("That is because they are not Wehrmacht soldiers... They are from a secret task force formed and tasked to retrieve the gold the German government lost months ago. They are known as Task Force Eva.")
Friedrich = ("I would know... I was one of the original members when it was founded. Most of those men we fought were not original members. They must have picked up some stragglers who joined them along the way.")
Dmitriy = ("My German needs work but I think I understand. Listen to me, finish up anything you need to do out there quickly and rally up inside here so we can discuss our next steps. We don't know when they will attack.")

[The group captures the point inside the warehouse]

Kurt = ("Hey! Do you want to tell us why these Task Force Eva soldiers are here?")
Friedrich = ("Common rumor has it that the train carrying the government gold was ambushed by Allied forces and was lost, but that is not true...")
Friedrich = ("What really happened is that the train was hijacked by its own guards and disappeared without trace... until Anton abandoned his group and informed Task Force Eva by contacting me.")
Kurt = ("Wait a minute... Are you saying Anton was originally a hijacker of this train? And that this train is here in this city?")
Friedrich = ("Yes, to both questions.")
Jozef = ("My God, and you see it fit to tell us this only now?!")
Friedrich = ("I didn't think it would matter as I wanted to skirt past the city. Being captured by the Allies and brought into the city was not part of the plan.")
Dmitriy = ("So what do we do about Task Force Eva's men looking for us?")
Friedrich = ("We have to fight them. They are ruthless, merciless and have orders not to let any knowledge of the location of the gold train escape. They will hunt us down if we do not deal with them.")
Dmitriy = ("Then let us prepare for them here. We can find an opening to escape after we've cut their momentum.")
Friedrich = ("Agreed.")

[The group fights multiple waves of enemy soldiers]

Friedrich = ("Original members of Task Force Eva incoming! They won't go down without a fight!")

[The group kills all Task Force Eva attackers in the warehouse]

Otto = ("I think we can risk leaving now. It doesn't look like there are more of them for now.")
Dmitriy = ("Then we should head south, I heard there may be vehicles down there we can commandeer.")
Jozef = ("That's a great idea! I like how this man thinks!")
Otto = ("Let's go. We don't have any better options right now.")

[The group and Soviet group move towards the train station. The group and Soviet group approaches Colonel Winter with Tomislav standing outside the train station]

Winter = ("You know, I always had the highest of respect for those who persevere in the face of absolute oblivion.")
Otto = ("Brave words, for a lone man standing in the snow, but I see you keep interesting company. What are you doing here Tomislav?")
Tomislav = ("I came to find you... to give you a warning...")
Tomislav = ("There is a massive task force of men approaching the city. They're looking for you, all of you, and when they get here they will kill every last one of you.")
Tomislav = ("But there is a way out... the east passage is clear due to a river further south. We can escape through there!")
Tomislav = ("And no, I am not a spy. Colonel Winter and I have been acquainted for a grand total of twenty minutes.")
Winter = ("Your friend is right you know. He came all this way to find you it seems.")

[Lieutenant Fitzgerald with American and Commonwealth soldiers appear and approach the group and Soviet group from all sides but do not fire]

Winter = ("I can only imagine your capabilities by merely surviving this long... I will not make the mistake of underestimating you, like Adams did.")
Winter = ("Having said that, I guarantee you lads this is one tussle you are not going to win...")
Fitzgerald = ("Let me pop'em major Winter. These bastards killed Adams, Simmons and countless other of our boys!")
Winter = ("Rather than give you boys the illusion of choice, I would like to... negotiate, for everyone's interest.")
Otto = ("This is very unusual. But we're listening... for now.")
Winter = ("Excellent ol' chum, excellent! As you can probably guess by now, this behind me is a train station... and I'm sure you are very familiar with the rather golden contents of these trains.")
Winter = ("We knew the train was stolen by its crew, but we didn't expect their resistance to be so stubborn. Nor did our intel mention you Soviets at all!")
Winter = ("Now, I couldn't help but notice those, shall we say, bad men with no visible insignias have an aggressive interest in your group.")
Winter = ("And this had me thinking. What if we can put our differences aside and work together to push our way out of this wretched city?")
Fitzgerald = ("Wait a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minute here Winter! What about the mission?! We can't just pull out! We haven't secured the gold!")
Winter = ("That's major Winter to you Fitzgerald. Do I have to remind you that I am the new commanding officer here? You will follow my orders dammit!")
Dmitriy = ("So you propose we join forces to leave the city?")
Winter = ("Yes, those unmarked aggressors have some proper gear and support! But before we can begin to leave we will need to deal with the unmarked attackers' base of operations. Quelling the rebellious train crew would be a bonus too.")
Otto = ("You mean to say the men who hijacked this train are still alive and are attacking you?")
Winter = ("Quite! We are being squeezed from the west by the leftovers of the crew and to the east by the unmarked gunmen. So what shall you say to my offer?")
Dmitriy = ("This is likely the best chance we have of making it out of the city alive. We should take it!")
Otto = ("Nothing about this feels right, but we're out of options. I guess we're fighting with the American and Commonwealth forces for now...")
Winter = ("The unmarked assailants are sending more troops from the east. No doubt they have a command post there.")
Winter = ("Fight your way to the east and kill whoever is in charge there! That should give us some time to packour things and escape the city.")

[Tomislav joins the group]
[If the group chooses to go west of the train station]
[The group is approaches the seven Axis soldiers who earlier freed them from the prison camp]

Kurt = ("Walter! Fritz! What are you doing? Get out of here!")

Walter = ("No Kurt. We made our choice to take this gold to secure our families' place in the future, and you made a choice to help the enemy destroy our plans...")

Winter = ("Right. Fitzgerald! I'll need you and the others to hold that hill with these lovely Wehrmacht chaps.")

Winter = ("Now now, no bickering! I will let you know when the evacuation of the city is complete.")
Otto = ("Fine. We will head for the hill. Be careful, Friedrich.")

Fitzgerald = ("I wanna make something clear to you... I'm keeping my eyes on you. If you suddenly have a change of heart on who you're fighting here, I will personally put a bullet in your heads.")
Fitzgerald = ("The only thing keeping you alive right now is that Brit with the red cap. I know the murderers you are and I won't forget that.")
Otto = ("Huh... I see...")
Jozef = ("What did he say Otto?")
Otto = ("He's warning us not to betray him.")
Kurt = ("It is good to know we are surrounded by such outstanding individuals.")

Winter = ("Friendly airstrikes inbound. Keep your heads down.")

Kurt = ("It's turning. Where is it going?")

[The Tiger tank moves into position and destroys the radio tower that Colonel Winter and Friedrich were inside of. Colonel Winter and Friedrich dies within the collapsed building]

Otto = ("Friedrich! No!!!")
Kurt = ("Damn it! We can't stay here! We are getting overrun!")
Jozef = ("Otto, come! Let's go!")
Otto = ("Friedrich!!!")

I gave more time and effort to playing your campaign. Barring the second mission that I almost passed several years ago, all bar the last one I managed to pass on Conscript difficulty, and so far, it was a very special experience. It is charming to see a developer use a game known for squad and vehicle combat, where mayhem claims the lives of many, and make a campaign focused on several key individuals and their personal journey to freedom, who nevertheless are tangled into bigger things than what they wanted or imagined.

The gameplay reminded me a bit of Commandos, especially 2, with almost each individual having their own weapon, speciality and ability to be used for maximum efficiency and pleasure. The increase in munition as we move into the city from mission 3 onwards encourages and rewards more liberal use of abilities to get the edge over the enemy and beat the odds.

The dialogue you made for the guys, with their backstories told via the discussion tabs in the workshop, weaves the narrative to connect them well, despite them starting off as mostly strangers, and makes them distinct. Intentional or not, I think you nailed Tomislav well as one variant of a Croatian, the variant that is determined to keep his promises and fight on, while also being a bit cynical of the situation he has found himself in. An old guard in his own right. The banter between the guys was also fun (Give this man a medal for his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ impeccable sense of logic, What fine and inspiring examples of men accompany us, I promise I hate you both equally you're acting like children), and I took better care of mister Smrek this time around.

Compared to the Soviet campaign that was a bit of a slog, and the American campaign that was dynamic and better fleshed out, yours is more personal, smaller in scale in terms of combat cause we have individual soldiers, but higher in stakes, both in story and gameplay.

As such, I say without any reserve or false flattery that you did something unique and have every right to feel proud of this creation, you and the team of people that assisted you. You showed that, even with the limitations of the game engine, you can craft an artistic entity that lives and breathes something of its own, where every soldier killed is an adversary that is removed, where every grenade thrown or medkit used has weight, where the story has that determination not to give up, to have hope, that mixes with melancholy and sadness one can find it a war.

Millions are said to be a statistic, while one or several are said to be a tragedy, and your story showed what tragedy it can be. I haven't finished the last mission, but I aim to do so. I didn't imagine I would pass the previous missions, but I surprised myself. Here's to your future projects and adventures. Glad I was able to offer my pen in your service.
