Prepatcher broken
It stops game from loading.No errors, crashes nothing. Open game with only performance fish stuff on and as long as prepatcher is in the modlist the "loading...." letters will disappear and game will not load

I've been experiencing this myself, but on the "Initaluzing Prepatcher" stage
does anyone know what mods this mod relies on? a list would be ideal as i cannot play as i dont know which mods need prepatcher to work

I'm pretty sure that Prepatcher is a library other mods are built off of. So there are mods that rely on it. But it doesn't rely on anything else.

So - a few things here:

1. As you people can easily see, Prepatcher is not updated to 1.6 yet. So if you by chance try to run it on an 1.6 installation, that just straight-up won't work. Full stop.

2. 'This mod' doesn't 'rely on' other mods - but vice versa. A mod that needs Prepatcher will have it listed as a hard dependency, so there's no way to miss that by accident because the game and mod-managers would scream at you before things even start. There are a few mods with optional dependency on Prepatcher, which will still work (if they themselves are updated of course) just won't benefit from the (mostly) performance-improvements that come from Prepatcher.

3. Based on my knowledge, no massively important mod should have a hard dependency on Prepatcher at this point in time. VE Framework has an optional one - so that one is fine - and some of the mods that desperately need it (Performance Fish, as an example) are not updated to 1.6 to begin with (because Prepatcher has to update first) - so people claiming that their game won't work without Prepatcher are either making things up or are using SOME esoteric mod I currently can't think of tbh. In which case, yeah - the use of that mod is currently out of the question.

This is broken on 1.5 as well -- it's not just a 1.6 thing.

The one on github is also broken for 1.5

I'm just trying to get performance fish (and it's dependencies, of course) working on 1.5, no other mods.

1.4 was 100% fine with mods, which is what I was playing for the longest time... But I gave 1.6 a try (with mods), big mistake. Now trying to see if 1.5 (with mods) has finally become playable... no dice so far.

TBF it could just be Performance Fish is broken for 1.5. There's really no good way to know for sure. I never got 1.5 to work with any mods, but the last time I tried was when 1.5 was released.

Don't try to set up a modlist for 1.5 at this point in time. RW modding always happens on the latest-stable version of the basegame, with mods quite often breaking their compat for older versions when they update and authors having low incentive to fix/restore things for a deprecated version of the game.

This sounds way more like you people not knowing the bare minimum about how to set up and handle stable modlists for the game. And if you really think it's the mod that's the issue; go on the RW Community Discord and drop your log in #troubleshooting to have us help you out fixing those issues - instead of blaming mods based on gut-feeling!
