Question number 1:
- What is the Age of Imperialism?
Answer:
- Age of Imperialism is a mod for Hearts of Iron IV, whose action is happening in a world where the First World War did not take place. Instead, there was a series of local wars, which influenced the global geopolitical scene by establishing the position of Great Britain, Germany and Russia as the dominant imperialist of the world, forced the United States to resign from isolationism, led to the weakness and chaos in France and Austria, and contributed to strengthening the influence of the Kingdom of Italy or the creation of the Balkan Federation. There were also many other interesting events, such as the Chinese or Mexican civil war, which we described in more detail in our official Lore available on our Reddit.

The game starts in 1931, when the competition between empires concerning their mutual sphere of influence seems to temporarily die out, but it will soon be reignited again as a result of proxy wars leading to changes within the influence zones combined with an upcoming economic crisis. Leaving and joining alliances, creating them or the emergence of new countries leads to changes to the geopolitical chessboard, which will ultimately lead humanity to the edge of world war, in which one of the blocks shall dominate the world, or otherwise the world shall be embroiled in endless atrocities of total war.

Question number 3:
- Are we recruiting new members for the dev team?
Answer:
- Yes, we are always willing to accept into our team someone willing to help us expand the project further with their skills and time he or she is ready to spend with us on achieving common goals. If you are interested in joining our dev team, then head to our server to the recruitment-board channel and fill in one of the sheets. Once we will have sth to do for you (based on what you put into your app) we will let you know and handle your recruitment task. The reason why the process of accepting new people into the dev team is a 2 step thing is that we wanted to make sure that people who actually manage their way in are going to help us with the work.

Question number 4:
- Is there any way I could support the dev team in their work on the mod?
Answer:
- Well, there are a couple of possible ways, the most obvious would be applying to our dev team and successfully making it in. But since that is not sth accessible for everyone, as some still lack, others lack time, etc. You may instead try to help us make the mod better by helping us with finding bugs and by reporting them and other issues to proper channels. We are also happy to see what you are posting on the suggestions channel, even if we may not be willing to accept all of the ideas. Finally you may also support us by subscribing to our Patreon!

Question number 5:
- Why does Hitler have such a moustache, why did he stay in Austria and what is he doing right now?
Answer:
- Due to the deterioration of German-Austrian relations as a result of Germany not joining the war against Serbia. Hitler, like many other Austrians, was deported and as a draft dodger he was immediately incorporated into the penal battalion sent to the Eastern Front, where he fought with the Russians in the Carpathian mountains. The war ended relatively quickly and because neither side had the opportunity to use the war gases, the gas masks did not come into use, and this means that Hitler never had to shave his moustache in the way he did in our reality. After the war, Hitler remained in Austria and soon after he began to speak as a speaker at meetings of various nationalist groups. He is currently at the height of his popularity.

Question number 6:
- What are the ideologies in the mod?
Answer:
- On teasers-old on our Discord server we explained it by 3 teasers series. The first part of it is pinned down and 2 others can be found below it.

Question number 7:
- Why is Sankt Gallen an Atlantis City?!
Answer:
- No, it’s not. The reason why it looks like this is how victory points work in the game, as they are not placed on the map, but instead hover a couple pixels above it. Because of this Sankt Galen victory point looks like being on the lake, instead of on the mountain next to it.
P.S You may actually find other such cases in the mod, like for example Memel in Germany.

Question number 8:
- How do I get Kaiser Wilhem II in power/ How can I get rid of him?
Answer:
- In the beginning of the game as Germany there is a choice to be made in the German military focus tree. This choice has some serious consequences as you probably should have figured out.

Question number 9:
- Why are bonuses in the mod so strong?
Answer:
- As one of the founding concepts of Age of Imperialism, we really wanted to make playing the mod fun for every possible nation that receives content, though even the generic focus tree is fairly strong. Also this is our way of expressing the fact that the world is in one giant state of mobilisation for upcoming total war, with some nations often exceeding more than others in certain qualities.

Question number 10:
- How do I get a funny moustache man in power?
Answer:
- Playing as Austria, at a certain point, you shall receive an event with 2 possible choices, with not so obvious outcomes. Sometimes it’s best not to trust the social democrats.

Question number 11:
- My game keep on crashing reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Answer:
- If you hope that we are going to be able to help you simply because you mentioned that your game crashed, then I’m afraid that we are helpless. If you are experiencing crashes of your game, then please go to the bug reports on our server and post there your exceptions.log, which you can find in the documents. Also please provide some context to it, like what mods were you using, what dlcs were you using, when the game crashed and all other details that may prove useful for us to identify the reason. In our spare time one of our coders will try to learn what went wrong and based on that we shall fix our mod, or at the very least, inform you what happened.

Question number 12:
- Are submods allowed?
Answer:
- Yes, they are. You are free to make submods to our mod, of pretty much any kind, including translations or for example additional content for the nations you like. In case of your submod being fairly successful and ok by our standard, we will likely mention it on our server. In the end, this mod was made for the fun of playing HoI IV and experimenting with this game.

Question number 13:
- Why no communism? More late game content? Why no releasable nations?
Answer:
- The core concept of Age of Imperialism gameplay has pretty much blocked us from adding communist nations at the start of the game and the lore of the mod didn’t really justify the communist revolutions taking place. We however have a plan for introducing communism into Age of Imperialism in a fairly realistic way that would fit both the mod gameplay and plot. As part of this plan we want to expand on the middle and late game content, and this is also the point where we want to add releasable nations. We have this all more or less planned, simply we lack the moment means to realise it. Our dev team is fairly small so unless we won’t finish the base game content first or have a surplus of devs that could work on such a project, the late game content planets will be pushed for the later date sadly.

Question number 14:
- How does one become a community contributor at the server?
Answer:
- Based on how active our server community is, we are sometimes looking for people that could help us out with basic server duties, such as answering simple questions of newcomers or informing us about potential break of the server rules. But who also tends to be the spirit of the community by generally being active members of the server. Based on that we tend to choose our Ochranka agents.

Question number 15:
- Why is there a Polish section of the server reserved to the Poles?
Answer:
- The biggest group of people not speaking English as their primary language in our community are Poles and also traditionally the mod dev team was made largely of Polish people. Hence why the special treatment. In the future, if there would be more people speaking mostly other languages than English and we would have someone to moderate it, we probably will add more such special channels.

Question number 16:
- Are you going to add more focus trees (or more generally, content)?
Answer:
- Yes we are! Please stop asking us about specific nations' content, technologies, etc. We are a small team and we are doing the best we possibly can, if you want to help us out with it then become part of the dev team or support us on Patreon. You may always share your ideas with us on our discord server, as well as you are free to do your own submod if you really need some kind of content to be included in the mod.
