It's quite interesting how divided people are on this. I once asked if I should add an option to convert finishing events for journal entries (e.g. buuilding improvements) to the small notifications on the side and basically no one wanted it.
In the long term I plan to allow for more events to be disabled. Ideally I would like to just be able to switch an event to become invisible as that would make it way easier. However right now other things have priority.
As for why there are so many events: When Morgenröte was first released, the game was very empty, so adding flavor events was important. Additionally our core players do like such events apparently and often wish for more.
