You can give steam awards, which is practically the same thing.
Third party VPE balancing mods are starting to come out, tweaking things like foci and backstories. It would be nice to have more sliders from VPE, but I recognize that adding 'simple' mod options that are changeable mid-save is MUCH easier said than done.
That would also solve the "AI are bad at using psycasts" problem. Give the AI simpler tools. Warlord raiders already use a similar approach.
I would particularly like to see Nighstalker raids (like drop pods except assassins spawn in darkness), psychically deaf raids, or raids launched in combination with psychic drones.
This I actually disagree with. Adding events that any storyteller can use (and that players can configure with VEE) would be great. Forcing the player to use a specific storyteller to get events / balance / raid types would be bad. What if someone wants to play with Winston Saves, Igor Invador, or Empress Evil? It would be a bit silly for a Vanilla Expanded Mod to be incompatible with other Vanilla Expanded mods.
