-player is devoured by seats
-handbrake sinks rear wheels, avoid it
-be very very careful of your speed when driving over corpses, b42 doesn't like the 6 wheel setup

Caused the game to return to the main menu.

this is probably causing other mods to fail too:

or maybe you don't have damn lib enabled and everything else is failing because of it

I checked the code in '83 AM General M923 and found require("DAMN_MechOverlay"), but the DAMN_MechOverlay.lua file in damnlib is empty, while DAMN_MechOverlay_Shared.lua actually has content.

Could it be that you forgot to change require("DAMN_MechOverlay") to require("DAMN_MechOverlay_Shared")?

The game crashes to the main menu when near the truck, though not every time. Do you think this could be the issue? AI analysis suggests that the failure of require("DAMN_MechOverlay") is causing subsequent errors.

no, that is not the issue, same code works on 60+ other mods and mech ui is not initialized when near a vehicle but when the hood access area is used, verify files with steam, make a new save and start adding mods until you find what is conflicting
