Gothic II: Gold Classic

Free Aiming
This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important

New update arrived!
The accuracy and hit chance implemented by free aiming has been reported to be quite frustrating at lower skill level. I have finally gone back to the drawing board to improve on the shot accuracy and align it better to the hit chances of vanilla auto-aiming.

Stay tuned for an update soon!

The update finally made it too Steam!

Не хочет стрелять магией по ЛКМ, из лука также, но при этом у лука вообще прицела нет (стоит реалистичный прицел).

I don’t understand what you are saying. If it does not work as expected, double check if the patch is being loaded and that the workshop branch is selected in Steam.

The update is on pause at the moment, but development is almost concluded and will resume early next year! Stay tuned.

how am i supposed to shoot in realistic mode?

Hi Mudfeak, thank you for putting in all this work into one of my favourite games of all time! :)

I'm sure this question has been brought up before, but is the mod able to work in conjunction with zGamePad? Currently I am unable to aim in the x-Axis as the character will shoot when trying to aim left or right.

Getting this to work would elevate the immersion to the stars ^^

Ofc I am aware that you are not the creator of zGamePad and you are absolutely not responsible for making this work, i just wanted to ask you whether you were able to fix this in private testing?

Viele Grüße!

@Grav, unfortunately, I am not aware how that plugin is implemented. If it were to emulate the mouse movement it should work. If not, my hands are tied. Unfortunately, I lack the capacity to look into third-party plugins (that may still be in development and actively change in implementation) and I cannot fix this on my end at this time.

I think you did a great job by creating this mod. Aiming and moving feels great, BUT the hitboxes of enemies and accuracy are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous. Arrows fly between wolf legs from less than half a meter distance so many times it's frustrating. Until you get around 100% bow/crossbow I think it's unplayable or barely.
Maybe you could add more options in Gothic.ini related to that.

I played a mod called Returning 2.0 (then Atlernative Balance and now New Balance) and there is also Free Aim. I assume it is yours (or not?), because it is almost the same, but upgraded to the point it feels really good to play ranged weapons.

I hope you didn't take my comment about Ret2.0 as an attack on you or something.
This is just an opinion of a stranger.
Good Luck.

@dsgtfd There is actually already some fixes in place, but I have to polish up on some things before I can release the said update.

Nice mod, I like it, but I found the accuracy quite frustrating in the beginning and that update seems a bit too far out for my playthrough.

I just modified the script file locally to have a more consistent accuracy.

The promised update has finally arrived! The hit registration probability has been completely adjusted and should now better reflect the character skill across all distances.

If you are interested in the exact implementation, feel free to explore the exhaustive documentation:

Quite an elaborate documentation indeed :) nice job!

Hello, is there a way to see enemy HP without aiming?
mud-freak  [developer] 6 Aug, 2024 @ 1:29am
@Juririnho Yes! If you navigate to your Gothic.ini in [Gothic]/System/ you can change showFocusWhenNotAiming to 1. For more details, see here: https://github.com/szapp/GothicFreeAim/wiki/Free-Aiming#ini-settings
