As for weapons, my experience with my community of 20 was that eventually 90% of players would prefer to use the infinitely durable weapon, and I had to use other mods to drastically reduce their attack power in order to force players to use other types of weapons
I would suggest limiting this by adding a few slightly expensive items as a "maintenance fee", such as battery charging for lightsabers, whetstone maintenance for metal weapons, etc.
There is another way to do this: you can add an option to the sandbox to set whether these are indestructible or not. I know of a mod that does this, maybe you should check it out:
