Thanks to Chainsaw Aadvark making a theory on as to why Fort Knell is extremely "radioactive", in his theory he mentioned that the technology that exists in Fort Knell is too advanced to exist during the Cold War era, so it suggest that Fort Knell was built at recent times rather during the cold war, this could mean that Arid is set at modern times, however it still leaves the dilemma of how come where there Soviet bunkers that where still operational at modern times, they would've changed their USSR flag to the modern Russian one, there's still lots of zombies in military locations in soviet uniform and equipment, which puzzles me alot.
And Russia had plentiful of time to change and update their soviet equipment or at least most of it.
But I think the simplest theory is Ivan's which is also possibly correct, Arid is set in an alternate universe, alot like Elver is.
