Some possible name ideas:
BOOTS/WINGS
Zenithspark Boots - Mercury's Boots [Mercury is the roman god of speed, this being a sequel to hermes boots (because hermes isn't technically the god of speed, he is the god of various things that all need to be fast, which is why he is associated with speed) also i know that mercury is a roman god but hermes is greek but shut up i dont care and if i look hard enough the game probably has done the same thing already]
Terra Wings - Newton's Lament [newton invented gravity, wings go up, gravity go down, you get the idea]
Broken Hero Wings - Broken Aviator Feathers
Metalspark Treads - Steelspark Sneakers [Because SSS. alternative names: Steelspark Shoes, Steelspark Slippers, Steelspark Sandals]
BOWS
Broken Hero Bow - Broken Archer Bow
The Horseman's Bow - Autumn's Reach [Halloween is in autumn, bow reach enemies from very far away, very cool sounding name with a dumb sounding explanation]
Dungeon's Bow - Kobaruto Hankyū [A hankyū is a type of Japanese shortbow, continuing the theme of the Muramasa and also alluding to its shortness. Kobaruto is Japanese for "cobalt", alluding to the fact that all the dungeon weapons are made of a magical cobalt material]
YOYOS
Broken Hero Yoyo - Broken Trickmasters Thread
Night's Yoyo - Lunar Eclipse [Lunar Eclipse is a [url=onedropyoyos.com/yoyos/lunar-eclipse/]real yoyo sold by One Drop YoYos,[/url] similar to several yoyo's in game (specifically all the ones with the One Drop YoYos logo in their tooltip). Be sure to add the logo to the weapon's tooltip, but also add something denoting that its mod content (and that One Drop YoYos doesn't officially endorse the existance of this yoyo in the game)]
Terra Yoyo - Guide's Throw
STAVES
Broken Hero Staff - Broken Commander Pole
SCYTHES
Broken Hero Scythe - Broken Reaper Chine [A chine is a part of scythe, particularly the arching part from the "toe" (tip of the blade) to the "heel" (start of the blade)]
Terra Scythe - Mower of Terraria ["Mowing" is a term describing the use of a scythe (a more modern term would be "scything" to avoid confusion with machine mowers, but A: machine mowers dont offically exist in terraria and B: "Scyther of Terraria" is just Terra Scythe with a few extra steps)]
Night's Scythe - Reaper's Call [referencing the grim reaper]
Hallowed Sickle - Holy Crest [referencing both the "holy" theme of the hallow and the shape of a sickle's blade]
Solar Scythe - Soul Eclipse [Referencing both terraria's solar eclipses and the fact that reapers take souls]
The Horseman's Scythe - Horseman's Hand [his hands are[i] literally scythes[/i] how did you not think of this one]
Light's Curse - Collector of Souls [Play on the name "eater of souls" that is an homage to the role of the grim reaper]
BOOMERANGS
Broken Hero Boomerang - Broken Aboriginal Aerofoil [Aboriginal Australians are "the various Indigenous peoples of the Australian mainland and many of its islands" (wikipedia) and an Aerofoil is the british term for "a streamlined body that is capable of generating significantly more lift than drag." (also wikipedia)]
Demonite Boomerang - Demonomed [Demon, but with the word demon reversed at the end of it (like how a boomerang moves)]
BOOKS
Broken Hero Tome - Broken Spellcaster Page
DARTGUNS
Broken Hero Dart Rifle - Broken Poacher Spring-piston [Poachers use dart guns, spring pistons are the part of most air guns that make the air propel the projectile]
Dungeon's Dartgun - Cursed Fukiya [a fukiya is a japanese blowgun, le dungeon has le curse]
Hallowed Dart Rifle - Somnus Sacer [Latin for "sacred sleep", dartguns are usually used with tranquilizing darts (which make you go sleepy)]
Hell's Dartgun - Devil Darter
Influx Darter - Cow Prober [refrence to classic alien trope in pop culture and the fact that dart guns are used on cows]
Light's Fury - Silencer of Purity [alluding to the fact that dart guns are quiet and the corruption overtakes the purity]
Night's Blaster - Long Sleeper [referring to the fact that tranquilizer guns tranquilize (wow, who knew?) and the term "Long Sleep" (which means death)]
Terra Persuader - Terrarian Wildlife Officer [refferring to real life Wildlife Officers who protect the forests and animals and also use tranquilizer guns. an alternative name would be Terrilizer Gun (or just Terrilizer), which is a portmanteau of Terra and Tranquilizer, but it sounds kinda dumb and silly and not powerful]
Catto Blaster - Catcatcher [play on Dogcatchers, who use dart guns]
Vortex Dominator - Hunter Vortex [Hunters use tranquilizer guns]
FLAMETHROWERS
Broken Hero Flamethrower - Broken Pyrotechnician Ignition [hehe it rhymes]
Dungeon's Fear - Type 200 Burncaster [a play on the type 100 flamethrower, a japanese flamethrower used in the Second Sino-Japanese War and World War II.]
Hell's Fire - Hades' Flame of Hades [Technically its the same name, but its actually more like "Satan's Fire of Hell", but since Hades (the person) and Hades (the place) are the same word, its funny]
Light's Fire - Demon Welder
Night's Wrath - Dark Melter [Alternatively, more in the theme of the light's bane (like how the Light's Bane is the bane of light, meaning its hated by Light (which is something i dont think you actually followed but whatever)), this could use the name Light Cleanser]
Sacred Flamethrower - Light Cleanser [Alternatively, using the above naming scheme, this one would then be named Darkness Melter (not dark melter, dark is an adjective, darkness is a thing)]
Terra Flamethrower - Imbalance Extinguisher [keeping with the theme where the Excalibur represents light and the night's edge represents dark, and the terra blade represents Terraria (which is the perfect balance of light and dark).]
SHORTSWORDS
Broken Hero Shortsword - Broken Thief Dagger
Blood Slayer - Gut Knife [Reference to real life Gut Knives, and a play-on-words (a literal gut knife, a knife [i]made of guts[/i])]
Enchanted Shortsword - Ensorcelled Shortsword [Ensorcelled is a synonym for Enchanted]
Light's Darkness - Purity's Scourge [Synonyms for Light's Bane]
Night's Shortsword - Lunar Rim [Synonyms for Night's Edge]
Shortcalibur - Claíomh Solais [a weapon similar to the Excalibur that appears in Scottish Gaelic folktales that also conveniently translates to "sword of light." alternate names: Claidheamh Soluis (Claíomh Solais in Old Irish), chloive solais (Hiberno-English translation)]
Short Meowmere - Daggpurr [Portmanteau of dagger and purr]
Shortsword of Grass - Hay's Graze
The Horseman's Shortsword - Shortswordless Horseman's Shortsword [a reference to the TF2 character, and the fact that pumpking does not actually have a sword, let alone a short one. He has blades. [i]curved[/i] blades. like a scythe.]
Star Frenzy - Sun Frenzy
Star Rage - Sun Rage
Terra Shortsword - Earth Shank [Synonyms for Terra Blade]
NAMES FOR WEAPONS NOT ADDED YET
Terra Spear - Pointerra [Point of a spear + terra]
Broken Hero Spear - Broken Paladin Shaft
Night's Spear - Darktip Blade
Sacred Spear - Hallowed Holemaker [It makes holes in you]
Light's Spear - Demon Spear
Solar Spear - actually, instead of adding a new weapon, you should just add a right click to the Daybreak that makes the player use it like a spear.
Terra Whip - Terraperant Conditioning [theme of control, in this case referring to operant conditioning, which is used commonly with whips to control or direct animals with sound alone, not actually hitting the animal]
Broken Hero Whip - Broken Adventurer Lash ["adventurer" in question being indiana jones]
Night's Whip - Propagandlash [theme of control, in this case control through a manufactured abundance of agreement]
Sacred Whip - Censorwhip [theme of control, in this case control through an enforced silencing of opposition]
Light's Whip - Corrupted Disobedience
Blood Whip - Intestine Intention
Dungeon Whip - Kusarigama [A japanese weapon that could technically be a flail, but its used like a whip.]
Terra Flail - Yin-Terra-Yang [A very blunt reference to the "balance" theme]
Broken Hero Flail - Broken Warrior Chain
Night's Flail - Chaotic Throw [also referencing the "balance" theme]
Sacred Flail - Orderly Swing [also referencing the "balance" theme]
ADDITIONALLY
I think having a "broken hero sword" for every single weapon does nothing but clutter the mod, as they all make one weapon each and all serve the same purpose - Combine the True Night's Edge equivalent and the True Excalibur equivalent. So either make them all use the actual broken hero sword, or make one new item that replaces all the old "broken hero ____" items
omg these are amazing I love these so much (I agree)!
what is the dungeon's dartgun rename? after "cursed" it is censored (idky, my profanity filter is off)
broken hero sword for melee
broken hero bow for ranged
broken hero staff for mage
broken hero whip for whips
and broken hero wings for well wings
search up "japanese dart gun" and its like literally the first result lol
its called a "f u k iya"
I totally understand! Your focus is making the mod and having to think of good names for every item could very well almost double the time it takes to add them. Not to mention after a while of naming so many items, the names might get somewhat low-effort, which would be worse than a base name to rename later.
Would love it if you did add these name ideas (or some of them at least) when you get the chance though! (Both mine and a.y.s.t.5's)
ah, I see. cool!
Night's Yoyo - Night's Throw; Darkside; Nightline
Terra Yoyo - Terrarian [you would have to rename the actual Terrarian to like True Terrarian or something, prob not a good idea]; Terrathrow; T-Spin; Terra Spin
Night's Blaster - Night's Range; Nightveil
Terra Persuader - Terraflow [Referring to the flow of air]
Night's Shortsword - Night's Tip [a broadsword hits enemies with its edge, a shortsword hits enemies with it's tip, Night's Edge, Night's Tip, you get the idea]; Night's Point; Night's Ridge
Terra Shortsword - Terra Saber
Terra Wings - Terr-air-ia; Terrairia [This one im really proud of]
Terr-air-ia is so unbelievably perfect lmao
It gets a bit boring after a couple. Especially since "Zenith" isn't supposed to be a general form of nomenclature, given that the item itself is Zenith, and not Zenith Sword
Zenith Yoyo "String Theory"
Zenith Bow "Wavelength"
Zenith Scythe "Grim Fate"
..and so on.
I get what you mean, but it's not called "Zenith Sword", it's just called Zenith. Having everything named "Zenith ____" kind of reduces the hype of "Zenith"
