Don't say that the engine can't handle it, not only is this menial, but if you've ever stared dota up before you've seen the guy with a valve in the back of his head turn and face then go back, and left 4 dead has the video preview of the game before you start, so obviously this can be done, and has been done, in the source engine.
Valve probably never considered this type of loading screen for dota matchmaking, source doesn't expect animation there.
