The issue that troll king has is late game, not unit variety. Elemental armies obliterate trolls and they have no counter. Perhaps that is simply their lot in life though, to balance out a strong early game.

I have a counter if I use only the new units, and I'll still be vulnerable to their opposite. That's the problem here.

I believe that swamp walk would be an excellent addition for all of the watery Lake Troll varieties.

It would be in keeping with the mods thematic flavor text specifically for the ritual "Employ Lake Trolls" : "High ranking trolls will sometimes pay members of a lake troll tribe to watch over their bogs and swamps."
