Suggestions
Got any recommendations?

Currently it seems like there’s some vocalization that the lights turning on and off is a little distracting; the option to disable it is in the menu now, but I definitely understand how it could be annoying to see things flicker like that. Would it be better to have that option off by default?

I think the mod is safe to be added mid-save but some powered objects won't be on standby automatically after adding the mod unless you designate toggle power/reconnect/uninstall/work a bill on the object, which should fix some powered objects. You could add a heads-up like this in the mod description

I might add a gizmo to enable/disable standby on specific objects. This could help with mods that interact strangely, and could also let players decide that certain lights (such as those in frequently trafficked areas) should be left alone, which could help with the annoyance of flickering lights.

Could you add a setting to change how much power stuff uses when in standby? I love this mod but 0W feels a bit unbalanced. Ideally we'd be able to set a % of the full power for standby consumption.
Thanks!

Would be nice to specify rooms where you would like to have lights on all the time or turn on automatically at the night.

I already intend to have some mechanism to prevent some lights from being flicked; I had intended to make it on a per-light basis, but would it be better to make it per room?

As far as the "come on automatically at night" part, are you asking for scheduling? I don't think I'm going to add functionality for that since this mod is trying to emulate normal light switches / power switches on benches.

If enough people want that kind of functionality I can always pop up another mod that has that feature. Once LightsOut is in a stable enough place I was going to start testing out another power-related mod idea I had, which I think could host that functionality.

I added this to the options menu; you can now define some percentage of the base power draw and it will use that instead of disabling it completely. I did choose to make it not affect lights when they are off, though. Thanks for the suggestion!

Would it be possible to make the neural supercharger use less power when it is fully charged and waiting for someone to use it than it uses while building a charge?

not a suggestion for the mod itself per say, but it would be nice to have a gif or video on the mod page displaying how this works

You bet! I just got done adding it in, so whenever it updates you should start seeing it enter standby.

Great idea, I'll see what I can do!

Thank toy for the reply!

Per light system would probably be better as it allows more customisation. But either would work fine. At least for me :)

I thought there was already a system that turns on some lights at night tme? I cant say for sure, but i feel like ive seen my street lights flicker on when evening comes :D But yeah I was just thinking more about outside lights as there are no reasons for them to be on. And since i use dubs glass for windows a lot of rooms gets natural sunlight in them at daytime.

I think that Vanilla Expanded brings outdoor lamps that turn on and off on a schedule. I can reconsider adding in a scheduling system for lights, it wouldn’t be that hard, but I fear it would only really be useful if you had the Windows mod installed, which would make that a pretty niche thing to add to a mod that tries to be general like this. I can always make a separate mod that extends LightsOut for this purpose; does that sound like a good idea?

Ah yes, Vanilla Expanded could be it then :D But yeah, honestly either included in the main mod or made as an additional mod, would work fine for me :)

Out of curiosity, if VE does manage some of the outdoor lights, would that collide with the possible mod of scheduling lights?

would be nice if it worked with "wall light"
Deepfield 1 Sep, 2021 @ 10:12am
A adjustable delay would be great for both on and off. As sometimes pawns go in and out of rooms pretty fast. Examples are motion activated lights. They stay on for a while after there is no motion detected and then shut off after a set amount of time
