As of right now, and several months ago as well, wounds lead to infection far too quickly. Wounds should need to remain untreated for significant amounts of time in order to get infected, but they don't.

Prime example:
Putting out a fire. Gett burnt opening the door to flood a room with water. Within 30 seconds, I had a wound infection a third of the way up the bar while running to a doctor.

Right now, all the fun is sucked out of any fun or interesting encounters, if you can't bandage your wounds within five seconds.
