[Suggestion] Some sort of way to at least slightly sway the possible research options in a direction you want.
Something similar to a techprint that could be used at the research table that allows you to select a research project, and one of the next rolls is guranteed to be a pre-requisite to that project or the project itself.

I'd imagine it would be loot from ancient complexes or a quest reward.
