This mod does prevent your game progression since it changes one of the core mechanics of the game.
Unless the game is outright won by getting enough money, then money is generally a basic, low-level, but also fun cheat to use. It doesn't break things, but it gives you a boost of varying levels, and you can combine it with something else for an interesting variant or even challenge (since we are using an RPG as an example, trying to get through with infinite money while being as underleveled as you can get away with).
