Would it be possible to make a version which cuts enough tags from the mod in order to get it functioning again(since Paradox doesn't seem to be fixing this issue anytime soon)? Maybe if a couple hundred years were cut along with their associated tags it'll fall back under the mandatory limit?
I understand though if it's not something considerable. A hell of a lot of work has been put into the earlier starts, not to mention it would be a massive undertaking stripping content from the mod and trying to keep it functional.
