I think it would be cool to have some guards patrolling the roads on horseback. Give it a sort of "This is private property owned my (insert character name). Leave now or face our steel." feel.

This would be hard, but when the guards get tired and your home, they would ask permission to head for the bunker. Of course they would need some voiced dialogue, again this would be hard and take time.

I know its been a while since someone last said anything here. But here goes. If you still plan to update in the future, maybe add in a guard/commander, who when spoken to cna sell you leather, iron, or hide gear. As well as iron and steel weapons, and hunting bows?

I have the millwater retreat mod that puts a mill and and a fishing business (for income) across the lake. it also comes with a bridge that crosses the lake if the guards could patrol along the lake road it would add to the "this area is mine" vibe.
