ARK: Survival Evolved

The Hunted
Just leaving some love for the mod author
Because comments can only be 1000 characters and mod authors don't get enough credit:

It's clear a lot of time and effort went into this mod and there are SO many things I appreciate about it, especially all the little details like the new models for various items when you drop them, the unique models for all the different nests, the dead survivors you can find, etc. I love a lot of the new crafting and taming mechanics too. I personally found some of the settings a little too punishing (I turned vanilla health/stam regen back on), but almost everything I took issue with is configurable by ini which was much appreciated. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to get around the absolutely insane aggro distance of pretty much every dino on the map-- maybe it has to do with nest spawn rate and not always being able to see where those are, idk-- but it decreased my enjoyment of the game enough to remove the mod. The herding/grouping behavior was pretty cool, but after awhile it just didn't seem right for dinos to constantly aggro and risk their own wellbeing to the detriment of their nests (made total sense for raptors and spinos though, the warning roar that you're being hunted became the most terrifying thing to hear in this game!) That, the inability to build safely almost anywhere plus having default taming disabled ended up creating a timesink I couldn't really justify any longer.

With more time maybe this could have been more-fine tuned. I really adore so many things about The Hunted and I saw it's ceased development so I thought I'd just send some love your way. It's a shame it won't be worked with further, but you made something pretty damn cool here. I feel Ark modding is sorely missing content that enhances exploration and interacting with the world. Maybe I'll check out the source stuff, I've mostly only made Skyrim mods for my personal use, but surely modding Ark can't be harder than that buggy mess LOL. Anyway, great work, had a good run. :cleandino:
