You might want to make it more clear how events work, specifically what the event cards, hero cards, and skill dice actually mean. I've been looking at it for like 10 minutes straight, but I can only guess what they all mean.

Just to check if my guess is right, correct anything I got wrong, this is how I think it goes:

1. Spend any stats to activate skills on students for the turn. Skills must be paid for each time you want to activate them. Higher level skills require spending focus as well, and can be accessed any time as long as you pay the focus cost each time. Each ability can only be activated once per turn.

2. For each skill activated on a student, gather the listed number and and types of dice.

3. Roll each of the dice and use your player markers to mark the area associated with that die. Each pip on a die results in 1 hit. For example, rolling a 3 results in 3 hits.

4. Once all of the required hits have been completed, distribute VP based on how much each player contributed.

And that's my guess as to how it works, except it took me about 10-15 minutes to figure that out and maybe only 20% of that was from the rulebook.

Also, are the numbers at the bottom of the student cards just there to show the distribution of stats from abilities? They're not actual dice you have to roll, right? This is just another one of my guesses. But if that's true, some of them are wrong, like Todoroki should only have a 1 for DEF at the bottom. Well, that's if I'm actually right on what the numbers represent, so I might be wrong.

But I appreciate the effort that it looks to be put into the game. Rulebook issues aside, I'd say it looks pretty good.

Thanks for your feedback! I'll definitely need to take a look at improving the Rulebook for these specifics but just to clarify for you now here are the misinterpreted items:

1. Higher Level Skills require a One time payment of that focus value indicated to get access. (You place one of your markers into the box labeled Level 1 on the student and move it to level 2 once u make the payment)
For example, if you pay 5 focus you can level up your level 1 student to level 2 and now permanently you have access to the two abilities on this card. Later when you get 7 Focus and you use it on this student you can get access to the third level ability. (some have only 2 as you may have seen and those cost 6 focus instead of the 5 focus).
2. That's exactly right
3. That's exactly right
4. That's exactly right

The numbers on the bottom of each student card is a rough estimate as to the potential for each student. Their potential dice they can roll. This is so when you draft you can try and optimize having a little bit in each of the 4 categories of Attack, Speed, Tactical, Defend, etc.

Again thanks for the feedback. I'll be monitoring this discussion page to answer any questions and provide fixes to them or improvements!

Updated! I hope the improved rules are more clear as what to do when upgrading and powering student skills. Thanks again batofara2005 for finding this issue!

I would say the rulebook is much more clear now, especially with the added pictures. Thanks for the update

Ok so I have a few questions that may seams dumb but i'm not AT ALL used to this kind of game ;

1. The skill points are described as "pooled" together, so can I, for exemple, use a 2ADP+2FIT card and distribute the 2 ADP to one guy and 2FIT to the other, or even go 2ADP+1FIT and 1FIT, or is it a pool for only on student ?

2. Is the number at the bottom of the skill cards the focus cost when you buy it or do they all cost 1 focus point ? And Is the number at the Top the VP that you are supposed to count in case of a tie ?

Thx for the good work, it's really fun nonetheless

Glad you like it so far!
1. Exactly right. And don't be worried about the support cards. Even if you equip a support card on a student and then activate it, the skill points (ADP,FIT,KNW) STILL go into the pool for any student to use. Think of it as working together.
2. Bottom right of the card is actually the VP value you get at the end of a game for having the card in your deck. Not only do you get VP from beating events you get them from the lessons you learned along the way! That is why the starter cards have a big zero on top right but I should make a change in rulebook to make sure it's clarified for even new players.

am i forced to send students on missions even if they cant do anything with the lack of required skill points?

No you don't have to. In the rules it says you can "Take any of the three actions in any order." This is also why you have the mechanic of keeping cards in your hand and why you're able to discard any cards and draw back up to the five cards. Usually in that situation I'd try saving up my skill point cards and use up or discard my focus cards so I can do a skill next turn on my team!

You don't have too do anything with some students since you don't have enough skill points. They simply don't take on events while the ones you power do.

Okay so looking through the rules I don't really have any trouble understanding the game except one small detail, how exactly is focus gained? The book says that you can gain focus from Lesson cards, but in the Focus section of the book it shows that it costs focus to use these cards in the first place. So is there an amount of focus you immediately gain per turn or something else?

Thanks for bringing that up! So basically cards you play will have in the description "X Focus" or something like "1 ADP, 1 FIT, 1 KNW, 1 Skill Point". The starter deck you have comes with 6 Hero Fanboys (which each have 1 Focus) Multi Tasking (1 ADP) Basic Training (1 FIT) and Hero Analysis (1 KNW). So you'll only have some focus to start the game but more cards in the line-up will be available for you to purchase. If you find that you're coming up short on focus often you can either 1. Save up your focus cards in your hand each turn until you get enough or 2. Get Inspiration cards in the line-up that always have a cost of (2). The cost is located at the top right of each card (so you'll see the basic ones you start with are 0). I hope this answers your question!
