if the mod is adjusted so that anyone can become an ascended empire just from being a belligerent war thirsty empire, then every AI empire in the galaxy will be an ascended empire within 50 - 100 years, and you'll end up as a vassal.
the way that zenith of fallen empires is structured right now is surprisingly well balanced for such a large and comprehensive modpack and it doesn't need any "radical" changes from you. this mod is made for everyone, not just for you.
