Is this model custom, or from the actual game?

It's a nice recreation model although something feel lacking from the trailer.

In the trailer you see them wearing the gray tactical gloves, kinda like the CSGO glove ones.
The neck part though you can see the metallic ring around the neck (like one of those astronaut suit) and the yellow stripes on the forearms are suppose to be in the middle (not very close to the wrists).

The model is custom, game files are yet to be extracted from the actual video game.

The model is inspired, not recreated 100% to the actual model reference provided in the game's trailer, or the previews.

I've already seen Headcrab add-ons published to the Community Workshop that really look like the ones in the game's trailer. No point on making another Headcrab add-on that is realistic-looking if there are already good models regarding the creature on the Workshop. The overall appearance of the creatures still seems to be the same, just its graphics were enhanced.

As of now, I got no plans on making further development regarding HL: Alyx, maybe some stuff will be worked on in the future.

When more information comes out, or more pictures of the game are published, then I'll probably continue the development.

But once the game files are extracted from the game, then I'll probably start porting some stuff over to Half-Life 2 and for Garry's Mod.

Same reason above, it'd also take a huge amount of time to make. Just wait for the game files to be exported by other users in the modding community.

If you'd like to have the model replace the combine soldier NPC you'll need to extract the .VPK from GameBanana using GCFScape and put the files into a folder that is in the addon directory (e.g E:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\addons). Once you go in-game and spawn the ordinary HL2 combine soldier NPC it'll be replaced with the HL: Alyx model.

The model has nothing to do with the functions that the addon you listed supports. In the addon "Enhanced Damage Addon", possible coding is required in order for the model to function as other NPC's (e.g Rebels). I am no coder, and can't do such thing.

The assets that were provided were already low poly, and due to Garry's Mod having a limit of 32k polygons, it was better for me to work on a lower amount of vertices without any Source Engine failures when decals were projected onto the 3d mesh in-game, nor the game itself struggling to project the shaders of the model. The textures themselves already are at a higher storage rate, making the model high poly would just double the amount I guess, same goes for easier weight painting of the model.
