Codelock on wooden gates

A friend and i started up on a server running basebuildingplus, and started on a base. We've gotten to the point where we made a vanilla wooden gate and bought a codelock but haven't been able to place the codelock on the door.
My question is simply, how do you put a codelock on a gate?

Just put the codelock on ur hands and left click on the gate.
