Animals winter shelter mechanics
If it doesn't get cold enough in winter, goats see no reason to go into a stable. I have screwed around with the temperature settings. It takes a long time for a goat to get cold!

Is it a problem that not all animals storm into the stable every winter? Or okay for you? I adjusted the temperatures and fauna behavior in winter, probably even without endangering savegames. Animals now walk into their shelters as soon, as the winter starts. I liked it better when they stayed outside. What do you think?

do they go to stables at a certain temperature?

Yes, they had a temperature stat back then, should still have it. Maybe they go too when hungry, not sure currently.
This was caused by reducedfauna="false" - have changed it to default behavior reducedfauna="true", as I expected breeding error related to that. There are dozens of comments about sterile animals under Happy Farmer, it seems as soon as you're able to build stables you need to do it in order to make animals reproduce.
