Steam VR crashes when clicking on start in the vrmod menu.

I need help to fix a weird visual issue within the game.

When I'm in the game there are weird visual artifacts that show up (weird stretching and smudges) These artifacts are most noticeable when I turn from side to side, making the things around me distort. Does anybody know a way to fix this?
