How does Fate Card work?
So I was playing these units:
Timbersaw
Clockwork
Tinker
Sniper
Snapfire

I got Fate Card Relic and the additional class card. In the last battle, my snapfire was next to sniper. I then removed sniper from the board, placed snapfire next to timbersaw and used the card. For some reason, my snapfire got the hunter class?

I thought the card would take the class from the nearest ally, but apparently it used the class of the nearest unit from the last battle? Is that normal or was that a bug?

You're mostly right in your understanding. But some races just have been taken out of the fate card ability (including mechs, and I think humans don't count towards the required 6). So yoru snapfire looked for the closest class, which was the sniper on your bench

:) To be honest, it doesn't say! There's lots of mechanics and updates that aren't reflected; they were mentioned in the update logs, but that's really not helpful...
