Would be amazing if Valve added alternative styles for maps.
It would be the same map, only with variety. In the winter months, maps might be replaced by snowy versions, the halloween will have a spooky theme and every fullmoon it would have a spooky theme. In between there could be various different ones from deserts, rainforest, canyons, forest, no mans land and so on. Night and day versions would also be cool! Would help keep the maps fresh.

I agree!

"Would be amazing if Valve added" simply new content which they don't since the game is pretty dead by now :spycon: I mean, Jungle Inferno was nice (it kinda broke a lot of stuff but still) but it already had been a while since there was any update, and I guess it will be the case again unfortunatly, it would have been nice otherwise

tldr: Would be nice but the game is ded and devs don't care as they did before

i think that haveing different styles for the map is a great idea so then players aren't looking at the same map consatntly.

There's one crucial problem: Reskins of maps tend to play differently.
Take for example Hightower VS Hightower_Event.
In one, people tend to camp the tower and TDM like mad.
In the other, the gameplay shifts to the middle of the map as the skeleton king and other hazards (spells) force players to leave the tower and instead go for the phantom bridges from the cliffs.

These 2 maps are not the same, and people have generally decided they like standard Hightower over the event version. What's to stop people only playing the versions of maps they already know and love instead of having to slightly re-learn jumps, corners, and team color recognition for every area?

Thats not what I am suggesting. The maps I am suggesting are identical, only reskinned. The background will look different, the textures will look different, the lighting will look different. Halloween versions might have a little twist to them, but thats really it. Other than that its just a reskin, nothing more.

You're opening the workshop to a lot of lazy reskins of existing maps. These are things that don't really add anything new to the gameplay at all. Seeing as TF2 already gets a minimal amount of new playable content, I think it'd be better spent on maps that are completely new to the community, as opposed to just re-releases of the same map.

Who is to say the community have to do them all? Most maps here doesn't get trough anyway. My idea was that when you checked 2Fort for example, you had a random chance to get either version. If it was winter, you'd be placed on a snowy version, Halloween would lead to a halloween version. In between you had a random chance to be placed in a canyon, jungle, desert, forest, no mans landscape. If the map is night and day would also be random.

Yes, and Harvest has one from like 2010 or something.

That would be too much for the dev team to handle now. If this was considered back in like 2013 or 2011 when the community was thriving at a stable 3rd most played game on Steam. And didn't have less than 15 people working on the game. This idea would likely be an actual thing.

Thats a lot of map files just for one map!Think of all maps having varity! Your game wouldent run and no updates but that!
