There are several things that can cause something like this:

Have you verifyed your game cache after unsubscribing (that only set a flag for reloading if a file is missing, verifying deletes changed files, so the right one can be loaded at nect game start).

If you subscribed to another mod, did you cancel the intro videos before the AoK video (right after the HP Logo)? Because at that time all needed game files are loaded. So cancelling too early prevents steam from updating you game directory.

Sometimes Steam doesn't recognize an unsubscription correctly. Then it helps to delete the mods file manually from your mods folder (no mod file is ever deleted automatically).

Last thing, I experienced 'my' steam to ignore new subscriptions after having 30 mods active. So further unsubscribing helped. (As verifying your game cache only deletes changed files, scenarios will stay after that as that ones are additional files.)
thats an interesting point about canceling intro video...
i reinstalled game but in case this repeats i know why :D
thanks

Your welcome. Glad if I was able to help.
Enjoy playing AoE2!
I am trying to remove your mod. I un subbed I reset game cache thing AND I uninstalled and re installed. I can still see your textures for the ores in game.
Sorry if that came of as rude. I have fixed it. After Installing a second time. The problem persisted so I read up on how the engine loads. Deducing that all that was needed was a PC Restart. It is now fixed :)

Great to hear it works now. :)

For future mods:
The verification just resets original game files, no new ones.
But AoE is moded by adding files in most cases (Hidden Path just didn't implment anything to get rid of that stuff).

To handle this you need to remove that stuff manually (in case of graphics it's mostly your AoE\data\slp folder that needs to be removed before verigying), or you can try my mod manager.
If someone is facing the Gold and Stone mines problem, I found a solution.
In the AOE2HD directory/folder, you will find a folder called data, go to it, then go to a folder named slp, then you will find two files there that must be deleted. The two files are called something like GOLDM and STONEM, search for them in the slp folder somehow and delete them. It fixed my whole problem after unsubscribing, verifying integrity, deleting the mod manually and verifying again to see the ores remaining the same. So it fixed it, just delete those two files I told you about and it should immediately fix the problem, hope it helps :) This mod is amazing though!

Well, EVERYONE is facing this problem. ;)

This is for HiddenPath didn't implement anything for mod organisation beside the possibility to download them.

And steams verification functionality just checks game files, no additional files - that's what it's intended to do.

Therefore all additional files will stay for ever - all non-terrain graphics, all rms, campaigns and scenarios, taunts beyond 99 and soundtracks after number 20, ...

All these things have to be removed manually.

In case of non-terrain graphics they are placed in AoE\data\slp (mostly).
And yes theoretically you can search them one by one by checking the mod archive which files have been added. The 'delete the slp folder' advice is just more easy for the majority of users and (in case there occurs no other bug when verifying) has the same result.

:D:
The_ChoseN Thank you!!!
Yes i'm still having issues. I've deleted the AoE\data\slp files as well as the mod file itself yet it's still there when i launch.

Just to make this more clear, did you do all of these things in this order?:

1) Unsubscribe (sets a flag this mod is not active anymore)
2) Delete files from AoE\Data\slp and AoE\mods
3) Verify your game cache (resets all game files back to default and reloads all needed mod files from mods still activated/subscribed)

In case you did, after starting the game, check AoE\Data\slp and AoE\mods again.
Are the deleted files there again? In this case AoE still thinks the mod is an active one and reloaded its content.

This is a really rare thing to happen, but try to do 1-3 again then, some bugs vanish after doing things multiple times...
Uninstalling AoE doesn't help, for steam saves your games state in the cloud (unless you unchecked this functionality in the games properties), so all of this will be restored after reinstalling the game.

Luckily with the new ingame workshop/mod manager it's all no problem anymore.

Of course I do! Part of my mod/community support. :)

...and they surely just want to switch to another mod I did. ;)
