Spawn rates & customization questions/suggestions
This mod has so much potential. I hope you can stick with it and make it into something complete. Please let me know if you need help or lose interest. I have mod experience.

First off, this is a mod that would benefit from as much customization as you can cram into the GUS.ini for it :)

I know you're probably working on tamed npc mechanics and such, but i want to make sure the spawn situation feels balanced.

I'm running the mod on a Linux dedicated server with Ragnarok. I cranked the NPC count first to 1000,1500,and 2000 to see the differences. I have it set to auto dino respawn at start. What i have noticed is the spawn areas. I let the server run for a many hours and did fly around to see the results.

Like others i have seen that run it on ragnarok have stated, you baraly see any npc's (if at all) in a lot of areas, until you get to the swamp or the desert. Then it's a npc festival. I couldnt find 1 in the scotlands/highlands area where you would expect alot of humans.

Is there anything that can be done to help the spread? Would it work if overrides were set in the game.ini for the npc's spawns?

I would assume unlike certain dinos, npc's would need to spawn pretty much in any land area, including the beaches. Going one further would make the rates and lvl range of the npc spawns different in each spawn area (ie DinoSpawnEntriesBeach_C), and even further then that would be to make that all configurable in the gus.ini. That would be something amazing, and make all the spawn rates/lvls adjustable by the admin: On the beach, low spawn rate, low level. In the redwoods, medium spawn rate and higher level. etc.

another idea would be spawn them in as small tribe groups instead of individuals. So each spawn in brings in a group of 3-5 (that would eventually work together). It would make it feel much more realistic to come across small groups or pairings, instead of a lot of one offs.

Also, if you do ever get to putting some tribe intelligence into the npc's so they work together in small groups, then have them try to tame, build small huts, and live on their own would be so cool. It also sounds like a boatload of work to implement that well. :o

Hey Thanks I could use a little help with the spawning - I have rewritten the spawn start code and all is working well now - On a dedicateted it spawns them all at the start so all is good but in SP it spawns about 300 and takes an hour to spawn the rest - set on 1000. it wwill get there tho. Ive played with all the weights and numbers and not getting much change if any.

Its holding up the next update as i spent all day on this yesterday and will be working on it today

300 to start and an hour ramp up wait just for SP doesnt seem so bad to me. I wouldn't soak up a lot of time on it if its holding things up. At this point (unless you said its better now after the next update) you really don't see any npc's within the first hour anyway :)

Any chance of getting those spawn rates customizable by area? Or would that be too much to do at this point? As long as the general global spawn rate is balanced and spread across map zones, it should be fine with just the global spawn limit like you have now. I think a good balanced and spread spawn rate is critical to make the mod feel like its working good out of the gate.

I can hammer out any testing you need.
