Stop with the crazy stats people!
Ok, Im all for a new sniper being added. And i see no reason why it shouldn't be this one. It looks silly, but not to silly. And looks like it would actually work (sort of), like the other snipers. But seriously guy? Stats that include seeing cloaked spies to shooting through solid walls or even firing multiple shots is just absurd. Even though this is TF2 be a LITTLE realistic on the stats folks. Each sniper has it's own interesting niche or thing it does well. The sydney sleeper is great for showering big targets with jarate, assisting others. The machina is a powerful sniper that punishes enemies for not staying on the move and penetrating their enemies for humiliating double kills. And the regualr sniper is just that, a simple sniper. Each has a slightly different role but there all the same fundamentally. So with that said, does anyone have any decent ideas for stats for this particularly interesting sniper rifle? And no placing down a small camera is not a good idea. This is not Black Ops 2

I seriously agree on this. The absurd stats people suggest just make me faceplam sometimes.

ok. so, here goes:

-enemies can only be seen when sniping through the viewer
-you can't run with it equipped
-only 1 ammo round, but it can be re-used, ad nauseum.
-alt fire teleports you into the enemy spawn
-it can only be thrown as a boomerang at any friendly spy crabs
-bestows the user with +10 DEX, -5 WIS
-explodes when it gets wet, but the explosion only hurts your team members, not you
-it become invisible when embarrassed
-enemies also wielding it create a time loop effect that sends everyone except medics back fifteen seconds before the last map was loaded
-has a sass mode, which sasses back at you in one of three celebrity voices
-on a night with a full moon, it can raise the dead.
-melts when player is AFK and is permanently lost from their inventory
-cannot be fired
-is silent when shooting down at targets
-has no sense of direction, but can be used as a substitute for a leavening agent in most baked goods

and there you go. tell me what you think and get your FREE!!! Rearbuds at yourmama'shouse/isaveryveryverynicehouse

Here's some real good stats... I actually thought the balance through.

SNIPER RIFLE RESKIN

BAM, simple...

Or

+ Fires little camera bullets which can allow observation of that area, and can be detonated by putting the rifle over a highlighted camera bomb and clicking primary fire
+ Alt-fire toggles cameras in use
+ Up to five? cameras can be in use
- No charge meter or scope, weapon is purely for observing the enemy team and detonating when applicable for maximum area damage
- Each little camera will blink red when active, can be destroyed?
- Bullet cameras will stop working after a set amount of time (~60 seconds due to batteries)
- Does standard no scope damage and doesn't detonate when a camera bullet is fired at enemies or buildings

Damage potential of each camera bullet can pend on further weapon testing in actual gameplay.

These cameras don't work forever... That's broken as hell...

Having a camera at all is borken as hell man, come on. Its interesting, but not something I think valve would want to put in their game at all

Having spectate is broken, understand this actually was my point. I'm including a form of "legitimate spectating". I actually do use spies and snipers in roles other than excessively backstabbing and headshotting. In a competitive setting, good understandings of an enemy teams inner workings and gameplay, plus set-ups are vital for teams to use against and find areas to exploit to win. This is that purpose, allowing for areas that you shoot, which can be visible in the camera itself, allowing for effective reconnaissance, even far from the area itself. You can't see a hell of a lot of things, just what's in front of it in a fish eye perspective maybe, which is obviously more balanced than just switching to spectate and calling out to your team mates that they have an open non-covered area near an engie nest on the left side of the cart in the next room, for instance, for a spy or ubercharge to charge in or something like that. Plus the charges should have a priming time, so to avoid instant detonations upon planting. If you remove spectating, then we can talk. And remember, the Administrator can see everything from her cameras (both visible and non-visible) everywhere, why not add something new in this respect. Because everything else I have read so far about possible stats for this weapon are essentially doubly broken variations on wall-hacks and model detectors.

Srs. business.
When balancing a weapon you have to look both ways..people forget that. You can' t just be about you.

how about it senses cloaked spys but doesnt point them out (with like a light surounding the screen to let you know one is within 25feet). And the disadvantage can be less damage to cloaked spys or something
Amber Slime 20 Jun, 2013 @ 7:52am
how about this, the gun fires a specail bullet, when it hits the ground, walls, or celing, it activates the viewer, and you can see, from the ground upwards, the walls sideways, and the ceilings down.
