Crash fix using Cheat Engine
UPDATE: This patch is no longer necessary as the bug it fixed has been fixed properly by the original mod developer.

Hello.

I have created a patch using Cheat Engine to fix the recent crash.

NOTE: DO NOT DO THIS WITH BATTLE EYE RUNNING. Absolutely make sure that you launched the game without battle eye; open Task Manager to verify this. You are essentially 'hacking' the game (even if it is for non-cheating purposes). You take all responsibility if anything bad happens.

If you don't understand any of this, don't proceed.

NOTE: This is a crude hack: it works by exiting a subroutine early if a register is null to prevent a segfault. I have no idea what the side-effects of doing this are. In my limited testing, I couldn't find any issues—though I have not tested multiplayer.

NOTE: No 'warranty or support' is provided for any of this. The patch may stop working due to an update, and I may or may not fix it depending on how busy I am in real life.

To apply:

1. Download and install Cheat Engine. Make sure to install it without the optional 'offers' crapware. If you are struggling with this step, google for a youtube tutorial.
2. Open Cheat engine.
3. Open ARK (WITHOUT Battle Eye) and leave it sitting at the menu.
4. 'Attach' Cheat Engine to the ARK process.
5. Open the downloaded table in Cheat Engine
6. Tick the box next to 'PADCrashFix'.
7. Load into the game, and it should all work.

I'm not seeing it. I have Cheat Engine, but a few problems. 1: I can't find the .CT file and 2. Idk how to 'attach' 1 process to another. I'm not very 'hack/mod' literate. heheh

Is there also a way to fix the flyer crash with cheat engine?

I am looking into the flyer crash at the moment, but it is unlikely to be fixable with a ASM patch. The bug appears to be caused by an infinite loop in a UE4 blueprint script.

I am also looking at packaging the patch into a nice, easy to use .exe that doesn't require Cheat Engine.

Will this work on servers that dont use BE too?

Wow it actually works! and it wasnt too complicated to do. Thank you so much even if its only a temporary fix its nice to see the mod usable again for the time being. :)

I stated multiple times not to launch ARK with BattleEye. What more can I do? You have no one else but yourself to blame.

I don't know; I never tested it out in multiplayer. There's a possibility that a dedicated server might not need the patch applied in order to function. But the clients will.

Test it out and see what happens. (Of course, without BattleEye running)
