How to fight religious unrest? Playing as the Seljuk Turks.
Hi,

I'm currently playing as the Seljuks. How can I effectively fight religious unrest? Do I need in every province a Mosque?

Basically every round I have to fight an uprising, even though I really focus on having happy making buildings and having governors in the cities.

Any tip would be helpful.

I'm currently thinking about looking for a mod that reduces religious unrest.

Personally I build town barracks to very much every province (doesn't consume too much food, makes siege against rebels easier + public order) + chovgan games (money + public order).

I keep a few mosques, because they're expensive but like to build Dergahs because they both bring money and decrease unrest, in particular in regions that are almost impossible to convert.

I also recruit priests immediately, to convert and minimise public order issues.

However, local traditions are OP, they make your people "deconvert" very quickly and are basically like having a major mosque in every city. (Which is way too much to be honest) So it's not a bad idea to convert to Orthodoxy if you expand to Anatolia and the Balkans.

If you expand through the Islamic world, you're going to be okay.

Thank you, I figured it out. I also have a low level recruit army running around, stomping out the rebellions.

I'm too far into the campaign to change some province layouts that I've build, but it is working out somehow. I think my problem was that I started to expand into Anatolia and the Balkans and keeping Islam as my religion.

Rebels are easy to deal with, in fact in my mongol run I let a few of my lesser cities revolt so I could farm rebel armies, just make sure to keep some cheap armies in the region, I recommend putting a few high grade cavalry units in the cheap armies, once they have enough exp switch them out for more, I eventually built a cav only army that I used to clear out the rebels faster, however make sure to utilize archers and cheap spearmen. as for revolts, just plan your expansion carefully, make sure to convert populations slowly, let a rebel army spring up once or twice and destroy it for the Happiness boost.
