Also, when I try to pick up items with my pet it acts as if its inventory is full and it just drops the item again

@Tal - Pretty sure that ones not my mod this time. I cannot recreate a problem adding items to the pet's inventory with this current release. Though I am beginning to wonder about GUTS. I've modded four other games and never had problems like this. Deleted is supposed to be deleted and compatibilty between mods is terrible. Very frustrating. This may be my last TL2 mod until the editor is more reliable. /rant off

Double check your load order. It could be a conflict with another mod.

Why can't I put items in my pet's inventory?

What is up with this editor?!? I deleted that Gel transform over three weeks ago in the editor and in Media folder of the mod package. It was a test and did not work because it resets everything...as you discovered. I did not add it back and now suddenly after hours and hours of personally testing and four pacthes later it starts to show up?

I have gone through all of the files again and it's simply not there. My only guess is that it's hidden somewhere in the UNITDATA.raw file. This file has been deleted and recreated. I hope this will fix the problem. I am sorry for the inconvenience. I am still learning the editor... and it's problems. That is why this mod is still in beta stage. Please always remember to back up your saves when playing with mods.

Same here but rotten luck I didnt meant to touch that crap but instead of one of the fishes i clicked on the slime aaaand voila a good 2 weeks of play wasted. No skills, no weapons and mostly everything reseted even some quest. Better fix it if it comes from your mod because i think a good amount of players will get the same and they'll be pissed

Not sure whether or not it belongs to your mod but it the only one who popped up in my mind because it might be some how related... I found an item that transform the player into a green jelly for 2 minutes and has the same icon as the "legendary item found" achievement in steam.
When I transofrmed, my weapon (2 handed sword on my right hand) was lost.
If it doesn't belong to your mod - I'm sorry. I'll write that on the combine all page, just let me know so I can do so.

Oh and BTW, thinking of it, I think it was claptrop who bugged my pet so kudos on keen eye noticing he was the cause of this!

I think I have found the problem. I'll need a little time to test it out but after that it will be uploaded as soon as Steam allows me to do so (damn time out errors). I'm not certain it will restore your pet but it should prevent this from happening again. If it does not restore your pet you may try using Mod Unbinder to restore your game or reverting to an older backup of your saves if you have them.

If any fellow modders are following this thread I believe the issue was the use of a "base file" in the pet's forms under Data Editors > Units > Monsters. "media/units/monsters/base.dat" seems to work ok but using a base file from a specific monster seems to have caused the problem below.

Thanks for all the info Tal. I know that the extra pet pages error is a result of incompatibility between mods that edit the same UI files. As for the pet transformation weirdness that will take a bit of invetigation but the information you gave me has given me a good starting point to work from. I will do my best to get this resolved ASAP. I would advise player to refrain from using the Claptrap and Creeper transformations until I do.

Oh, it also couldn't use the spells it had equipped and can't learn new spells (can't give them to it, can't give it items in general)

I use BAGMOD too. I believe the extra pages on your pet are still there, you just cant access them. Since I only use my pet to sell unwanted items it hasn't been an issue for me. A version of Fishing Overhaul without the extra pet slots would be ideal but I've no idea how much extra work this would entail after you've already done so much.

Alright so here's what happens:
When the transformation expires my pet turns into a heal bot. In this state. my pet cannot carry anything. when I resummon heal but my pet's avatar disappears my pet loses all of its hp, then it disappeaers entirely, even from the minimap, until I use another fish or transformation. When I do, it trasforms my heal bot into a pet but it still has 0% hp. This pet can attack.
That's pretty much what happens.

After doing a few expirements, I found out that when the transformation expires, my pet turns into another Heal Bot. I'm not sure whether or not if this thing happens even when I don't have one summoned when it expires, I'll check and write here later.

Noticed a nother thing:
If my isn;t visible when I close the game, the next time I open the game and loads my character every item my pet had on before I closed the game will be lost.

(Continuing my last post, it was too long)
Now, after every transofrmation expires everything stay the same (including the pet items) but my pet is just gone, when I use a fish it's back. Oh, it has also lost its icon, it now has a green paw icon with a potion next to it.
Also, I use the mod which gives my pet 5 bag pages but I no longer have access to all of them when I don't sell, only to the first one. I use the mod in the Combine Them All with teh Synergies compatibility.

Hope thsi information helps to fix the problem :)

Ok so I figured how to fix that, I need to transform my pet into another thing. If the pet is under the effect of a fish then it's visible (permanent ones are alright too). I'm not really sure which one made my pet buggy, but I sent it to town and when the time stopped going down and it didn't come back I recalled it and then it got bugged.
My original pet was Pappilion ( That cute dog ^.^ ).The pet item slots are back now, but when they did, they were empty. My pet lost its name (has some weird name now, don't really remember what it is).

It bugged my pet.. The transformation expired and now my pet is lost, it shows it is level 0 with no items and no icons or an avatar..

Fish_Player_XForm_Bloatfang dropped for me randomly you may want to remove it from your mods files untill you or someone figures out how to temporarily store your items and stats when you transform into stuff.

btw there is a bug in player transformation slime potion that resets your skillpoints and statpoints and puts your weapon back to base stats white item.

First, great work on this mod! Second could you verify the rusted nut/claptrap transumtation is working? I transmuted 3 rusted nuts earlier and ended up getting a big monkfish. Thanks for an excellent mod!

Ok updated to fix a couple bugs. The pet necklace should be working corectly now. The Giant Monkfish now properly transforms your pet into a blood monkey. Double checked the dragon elemental. Random is random. It's there. I did not add the Ursafish yet but will get that done soon. I wanted to get the bugs squished quickly as possible :)

Thanks! I tried the Dragon but I like the Dragon Elemental better because it flys.
I didn't a whole lot more fishing and still haven't seen any fish for the Dragon Elemental.

Did you get rid of the Dragon Elemental? I have 4 characters with over 100 fish caught
each and I haven't even seen 1 normal one.

Another bug: the ring slots do affect the armor numbers above the pet portrait (the numbers change when you equip rings), but equipping a necklace into the necklace slot seems to have no effect.

@SolidSnakeEyes - Dang Snake you should change your name to BugHunter or something. :P First of all I'm happy to inform you that I have found and fixed the bug with the Acidic Jellyfish transmutation. Also, I have gotten the Djinn to act much more aggressively and to shoot the fireballs as was originally intended. These fixes will be included in the next update.

As for your inventory problem I'm not sure that is related to this mod though I can see how it might be. I have been trying but I can't seem to recreate the problem. It would surprise me if you were to only one to report it if it was happening to everyone who uses this mod. Are you using any other mods? Does this happen with every transformation or just a certain one/s?

I haven't made changes to the pet inventory as of this version but the upcoming update will include changes to the pets inventory and status bars. You will even be able to equip two rings and a necklace on your pet. Maybe that will fix your problem.

Stll love the mod. However, I am having another issue.
1. My pet's inventory will not diaplay any items (even though it has some in it) when I press "p" or the pet button, or when I am in a buy/sell merchant screen, though I can still hit "sell all" to sell the items which are there but not visible. The only time it displays correctly is when I am in a transmute/upgrade merchant screen.

First of all, I'm glad to hear your having fun with this mod!

I'll take a look at the Acidic Jellyfish transmutation tonight to see if something got changed. As for the Djinn, I am reworking all of the new pets to be more balanced with exsisting ones as well as improving their skills and attack abilites. They will be improved in the next patch. It will hopefully be ready soon but I am adding several new features so it may be a little while yet. Check back in a few days =)

I love this mod. Fishing is much more exciting now. However, I am having two issues.
1. The Acidic Jellyfish will not transmute no matter how many I have in the stack.
2. After permanently changing my pet into a Djinn it does not seem particularly aggressive even when it is set to "aggressive". A lot of times he just floats around and waits for his mana to regen so he can cast spells, and does not seem to attack as much as the other pets do. And, though his descriptoin is "firey" he has never used any fire abilities, I assume the descriptor is simply referring to his appearance.

@gianeyeballmonster -That first issue sounds like a priority thing. I haven't made any changes to starter pet skins or anything else. The transformation potions do not make changes to the start pet only to the consumables table.

It might be a priority issue, but this mod seems to override the skins for the stag from "More Pet Skins," yet all of the others are unaffected. Could you also perhaps clarify where on the priority list this mod needs to be in relation to Synergies, if anywhere?

Yeah some fishes are bugged they have stack and combine problem
the ones i catched that had this problem:
armaray, dragon koi and two other ones i've forget aren't being able to stack or combine
(note that im using the compilation mod Combine Them All that has your mod so it might no be a problem in your mod)

First, Im using your mod from the Combine Them All package, so it might be possible the bug is being caused by that, but I though I should let you know.


When I transform my pet in a dragon, whenever he walks the screen starts to shake as if there was an earthquake going on. Besides that, even though he was set to be agressive, he wouldnt attack mobs, instead kept following me around.

Thanks for the bug report! As far as the stompy sound there is nothing I can do to change it that I have found yet. It appears to be worked into the animations and I can't change them wtihout 3DSMax. At $3,675 for the software that won't be happening unless I get some crazy huge donation lol.

I will certainly look into why it's not attacking though. It should be.

I seem to have a similar problem as Wolfeng. I'm using Combine Them All as well. I made a Necromancer with a ghost for a pet. When I reached the first town I went fishing, caught one of the wisp jellyfish and fed it to my pet. He became a wisp and, as I assume it should work, started healing instead of attacking. However, once the 5 minutes expired and he returned to ghost form, he continued to only heal and not attack. I turned him into a werewolf after that and he started attacking in werewolf form. (Seemed seldom, though). And again, upon returning to ghost form he would only heal. It seems that turning him into a wisp replaced his default attack permanently. Hope this helps. Hey VooduRaj, love your mod. I put it in my Essentials Compilation as you noticed :D. I'm having a little problem and I'm wondering if you could help.

I use both this mod and BigBagMod, and they seem to conflict, but I'm not sure why, they don't use any of the same files except the Vampiric Spider pet. If I have them both installed, with BigBag at higher priority, the Pet equipment Hud reverts back to default, which is no big deal. But If I have your Overhaul loaded first, I can't see items in my Pet's inventory, unless I go to a merchant. Same thing happens if I merge the 2 mods and recreate it.

I can't seem to figure out what's causing this Pet inventory bug, and I'm sure you'd be much better at tracking it down than I.

@Norton Bates - After looking through the mod again I cannot find a problem that would cause the wisp's skills to remain after the transformation ends. There was a similar problem a few patches ago so I'm going to guess that Bandit has not updated this portion of Combine Them All since then. I will contact him and see if that is the case and if so I will ask him to update it.

@Lone Wolf McQuade - I think that is the common conflict that occures when two mods affect the same UI files. Pet and Fishing Overhaul changes the PET_INVENTORY.LAYOUT and I think BigBagMod affects the same file to make your pet's inventory larger. Depending on load order one will override the other and cause problems.

I do not yet know a way around this to make it compatible with other mods that change the same file. Best thing you can do as a combiner is to remove one or the other mod's changes to the pet inventory or combine them by hand (probably a pain in the ass to do that though).

Few things wanted to point out, first it seems like the new pet you introduced in the last update is not inside the files. I made the corrections to the Angel Fish and pet Dragon as well to keep up with your bug fixes, but could not find the new pet files.

Also more info on which modifications to the pet files have been made so that I may correct them. The issue is I cannot simply copy paste the files into CTA and have to make any new changes you introduce by hand. Any info on which files have been edited will save me a lot of time. Looking at the fish files they look the same, I'll compare the monster files.

Secondly what VooduRaj is saying about merging the files is correct, there is no simple way of merging UI layout files, you will need to make a decision on which version you wish to use. Otherwise its a very long process of duplicating the changes made in this mod inside of the layout for BigBagMod. This can be done in guts, but will take a very long time to do.

The last update should have added the three fish under Units > Items FISH_NEW_AUTOMATON, FISH_NEW_AUTOMATON_BIG, and FISH_NEW_AUTOMATON_PERM, as well as PET_NEW AUTOMATON_GEN1 under Units Monsters. The previous patch to fix the problem with the wisp was just to remove the base file data from the PET_NEW_CREEP_WISP.

Could have been some sort of Steam error. I'll double check but everything looks to be as it should be on my end so far.

*Edit* Just re-uploaded it to be sure. Let me know if your still not finding it.

OK great, ill check the new files. I also removed the monster basefile from all the pets in transition to the pet basefile system being used by Bigger Inventory and BigBagMod you may want to check it out. Just look at my modified version of your files in CTA. Since there is the addition of new icons by Xalderon within CTA I will be recoloring some of the fish, let me know if you also want to use the new icons. Still having some issues getting them to fully work so far but I should figure it out soon.

I am a doofus and didnt realize you changed the name of the mod and its folder as well. :) derp

I've noticed that for all of the new transformations the armor and resistances are terrible.

An example being the supposedly "Heavily Armored" Ancient Automaton Mk1 who drops my ferret pet from 4497 Physical Armor to 1051 Physical Armor.

I believe bone golem fish is broken at least at low levels. I give a giant bone golem fish to my pet, and it does attacks but will not do any damage.
