Not really sure what to make of this? People complain when there are no fixes, people are concerned when there are...?
I recently released a string of gameplay updates and are now fixing minor bugs introduced by the updates. Frequency will change soon when i return to other mods and projects.
In general when you are afraid of bugs you probably should not use any mods at all, let alone some major overhaul mods.

Are there probabilities of one of these updates screwing up my current play through?

You can’t add rpgo to a current playthrough anyway. It requires a new campaign. That said the mod is still in development so there is always the possibility of bugs that ruin a campaign, though that did not happened once since release since I am as careful as possible when making changes.

Possible, yes, as anyone using mods should expect, just as you said. Probable? That's what I was concerned with. I'll trust that won't happen and begin a play through with this mod. Thank you, sir!

You can copy the mod to the local mod directory ( %steam%\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Mods\ ) and unsubscribe from steam. This way you won’t get automatic updates.
