I never really designed it for singleplayer use and singleplayer requires slightly different code. Many mods do not function properly in singleplayer for this reason because you basically have to code certain things twice in two different ways.
However, if you want to play singleplayer AND use mods you should start a non-dedicated session and just make it private. This allows everything to run as if it was on an actual server which is great for mods but also ensures only you are playing.
