Please use this thread for break away/new nation suggestions. Your new nation can have a custom ideology, existing one or one from the base game (democracy, communism, etc.)

a european republic-esc nation that breaks away on the border of the two super powers that has to fight both of them. maybe even sparks a three-way war?

Red Federation, in Eastern Ukraine-Caucasus, the ideology could be a adapted version of radical communism, but remain as a totalitarian state

Some of my suggestions:

-Part of South America and Africa that unite in a single super-state or remain as two different states (Africa and South America) within a new faction. Something like the Third World Non-aligned and decolonising movements during the Cold War, but more militant in this case. Focused on achieving independence from the UEF but don't share Terran Hegemony's ideology. They could also seek to free regions from the world (Central America and Mexico, Middle East, Oceania...) and integrate these super-states in their faction. Their ideology, in lore terms, would be like a weird mix of pseudo-democratic populism, anti-imperialism, and maybe even some kind of ecologism.

-East Asian Coast (Japan and part of china). They could be some kind of extremists within the Terran Hegemony, or maybe more moderate. In the first case, i imagine something like a industrialist trans-humanist movement claiming that humanity itself is doomed, and so they would focus on "forcing evolution" via cybernetics and maybe aggressive gene-modding. If not, they could still be human purity technocrats like the Terran Hegemony, but pursuing a different, more moderate agenda. They could inspire a similar uprising in UEF territories, and maybe even form a faction.

-Something like a global religion spawning many small "countries" around the world. They could also be part of their own faction, and share ideology: maybe an Apocalyptic of Millenarianist cult embracing the new situation, or maybe even wanting to "end the job" and kill off the remnants of humanity to help them be reborn, travel to the paradise, etc.

I would add more if i'm inspired.

- Shaoshyant Movement. The horrors of ISIS and the general social collapse causes the Middle East to turn their backs on Islam. While it persists in Northen Africa, other nations have turned to other means of salvation.

In northern India, Iran and Afghanistan, a prophet claims to be the Shaoshyant, and as such hundreds of thousands of believers follow this prophet in his ambition to restore the glory of Zoroaster. As long as it exists, other nation states receive events about terrorist attacks.

If possible, they have their own ideology; Religious fundamentalism, or just "State Terrorism".

EDIT: Besides building up their army and economy, their foci would be about spreading their religion (And thus rebellion) through the Middle East and beyond, and dealing with the problems with research that their religious afinity has. By the end, they should look surprisingly optimistic, as a luxurious Middle East where religious brothers rejoice in a cultural renaissance. Optimistic, that is, if you ignore the regular purges and the Inquisition.

- Freedom Fighters of America. In Argentina, Chile and Uruguay (And maybe Paraguay and Bolivia) a resistance movement organizes to free themselves. If they win the liberation war, they may either break up into their respective states (Still in a single faction) or form another state spanning those countries, renamed to Federation of La Plata.

As soon as they pop up and after they win their wars, they get several events to define themselves. They may become a federalized direct democracy, or they may just be totalitarian whackos following a self-proclaimed reincarnation of San Martin AND Bolivar.

EDIT: Beyond the obvious, their foci is about building up the new government, learning from the UFE's mistake and trying to spread thorought South America, plus either eliminating or making alliances with slavers and drug dealers. By the end, they should either be a utopia (AI will never get to this) or a totalitarian state where the population is essentially mind controlled through the use of drugs, and all dissenters are enslaved and sold away.

- The Corporate States. If the UFE has a very low ammount of PP or a very poor industry, they get an event about a conglomerate of corporations seeking to buy resource-rich states. If they agree, The Corporate States are formed in certain regions of Africa, India and America.

Officially, they are still part of the UFE, but through events they may fund rebellions in both the UFE and the TH, which results in puppet states for the TCS if they win.

The leader is a board of executives. They should have a modifier that makes their army weaker but allows them to build faster. An early event should allow them to choose whether to have their own ideology (Corporatism), rule through fear (Become terrorist), or stablish a caste system based on wealth and race (Red lotus).

EDIT: Their foci is about whether to make their state a multi-corporative one or just centralize into a single corporation, dealing with communist guerrillas, starting up more inmoral enterprises (Slavery, drug dealing, selling clones, etc..) and choosing whether to let other nations do their dirty deals or to hire PMCs for their army. By the end, they are pretty much a Cyberpunk society. Also, maybe they could get a super-AI in power, if the conflict between corporations scalates too high.

Great suggestions guys! I'll be sure to give all these all a read when I get a spare few minutes! Loads of material to work with that's for sure.

California Free State. or Alternatively Cascadia (Including California Oregon and Washington states possibly Vancouver and or the rest of British Colombia.) Either of these would likely break off very early on (willing to ceceed at the drop of a hat if they think the rest of North America were to lead them to devestation) and be either Anarcho-Syndicalist or Effectively decentralized (final stage) Communist.

Just gonna mention; I find it rather funny how we posted very similar suggestions (Religious fundamentalist, anti-imperialism and cyberpunk) with only three minutes of difference between each other. Wasn't on purpouse, sorry.

-Deaxia. A Massive Greco-Ottoman Empire like state that expands from Greece through Anatolia, Down to the entirety of the Arabian Peninsula, and a small portion of North Africa, up to the end of Alexandria. They believe in pure defence of their borders, and are anti-expansion, they keep to themselves and attempt to not get involved with any major conflicts between the Other superstates, and purely rely on forts to hold them off. Their government is a kind of Elective Monarchy, with their leader regining till their death, and the people directly electing a new king.

LOL, you're right, and that's actually awesome. I like how we agreed on the same big three "archetypes" while at the same time we focused on different details within them. :D

How about in mid 2030s theres a movement for freedom of african countrys like
-Ethiopia
-South Africa
-Nambia
-Rhodesia
-Angola
-Tanzania
-Kenya
-Zaire (both congos merged together)
where all of them rise up and delcare independence and have a faction form in a focus tree called African Nationlist Sphere, there would be a different ideology called Pan African Nationlism and it would only be boosted by political advisors only in free african countrys that you release or rise up, meaning you cannot have a pan african country in europe, america, or anywhere else.

A event might rise up for UEF of a national focus for 3 choices, 1. Let them have independence but under autonomy (puppet, more national unity, -100 political power) 2. Let them be totally be free under referendum (+50 relations of african nations on you, increased national unity, -50 political power) 3. Subject them to martial law and occupation (- 120 political power, increased resistance, higher chance of rising up event,)

The backstory of this is africans finally are tired of being under control of UEF and its attention to it being not acknowledged so after years of still having the same issues as they were independent before the war and its promises of improving the region a movement starts gaing traction in south and middle africa.Pan Africanism but under a different defintion, instead of it mainly independence from european colonialism its for independence from UEF and that tribal fueds, tribal relgion, and islam are to blame for its contineous downfall it had(think of hitler when he said that the jews were the ones that backstabbed germany for its loss in ww1)

This is ideology was born in the aftermath of the war from the people of liberia and coast of ivory after seeing the devisation of all the western powers made africans seem like there the last of human kind which in turn made note of everything that western countries that made them succsesful, it came to the conclusion that it needed to demolish the idea of tribal hatred towards one another, wanting to excede in technology, society, and the hatred for islam start when the north african refugees arrived in south west africa after they feld mediterranean waters and countries they once had lived in, with them came the radical preachers that incouraged tribal conflicts with one another mainly due to their religious ideas and radicalism that spread through the different tribes which made them frowned upon, blamed, and hated in this ideology.

Thats all I guess, sorry for writing a wall of text

Greater Scandinavia: The northern lands fell apart and the people returned to wild. But for these people they felt almost... home in these harsh winters. They felt the strength of there ancestors come back to them as they returned to there natural home. and soon the world will feel the wrath of the new viking age!

In the GSC the people are all bound togather in there shared ancestry as great raiders. They have really high NU and are well adapted to defending there homes. There focus tree will be on figuring out how to save there population. Also there government will be succesion by the axe. Every four years one of higher ups of the society may chalenge the ruler to a dual. the winner leads, the loser dies. (this could just be a democracy event)

The Slavic Purity: More radical then the terrans, the slavik purity is a Neo-fascist movement bent on the destrucition of all others. They focus on heavy armor and have a mysterious leader whose name is known to few but the generals.

The TSP will be a tecknological backwater. focusing more on defence and generaly try to be left alone. This movement will be a thorn in a side but will be a total disaster if let loose on the world. Think of them as raiders and not really a major contender.

Concordant of York: Before the end there was a great city. It now lays in ruins, but from the ashes the few who remain have found the will to cary on and light the torch of liberty once more.

York will be the remians of new york city. They will be a true democracy (but may become a republic) they will have bonuses to NU and factory repair speed. there focuses will focus more on rebuilding society and fixing the city. This will allow them to remove anarchy and to have a thriving industreal center. Also if they rebuild the statue of liberty they could also receive imigration events.

(I may make more later, but i just want to ask quick. Are we going to have anything other than humans? So like mutated people or robot uprisings? Im not sure how i would feel about those but its cool to fantasize)

Fallout references. LOTS of Fallout references, from the New California Republic and the Enclave, to rogue elements like the Khans and the Brotherhood of Steel.

But make sure they're hidden except under specific circumstances, like specific focuses picked or decisions made during events, so that people can play through without seeing them unless they want to. It would create a lot more replay value in the future, too!

mabie a mutant faction spread out randomly on the map what everyone fights

Maybe if one side gets too unstable the former nations within said nation will rebel Like if Romania if the Terrans get too unstable the Romanians,Hungarians will rebel.
