Grab the robes from the acolyte that attacks you on high hrothgar, build a red lightsabre, learn the code - you can do that on wookieepedia, the darkside powers are for sale upstairs in the solitude blacksmith along with the robes after all you might want an apprentice. The Jedi vendor will still sell the powers to you - ironic isn't it - so you're not lacking in ability simply because something was assigned to the lightside vendor. There are locations in world to find all the abilities as well but I'm not going to spoil it with locations I've found myself, that would be entirely too jedi.
