Progress Report 1: United Kingdom Focus Tree Preview
Good Evening or Afternoon!

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Grestin, the lead dev for Pax Britannica. In the last week or so, we’ve been pushing out a series of patches to fix stability and make small additions. Of course, the mod currently lacks unique focus trees, which is what we’re currently hard at work to provide. Our team has been working on creating new focus trees for the Commonwealth, however due to technical issues for one of our key members, we’ve had to push back the larger Commonwealth update to a currently undetermined date.

In the meantime, however, I’ve been overseeing the focus tree for the United Kingdom. This Progress Report is to give you a preview of the United Kingdom Update, currently anticipated to be ready for release early next week.

Being the dominant world power at the start of the game, the United Kingdom is in an interesting position. While their commonwealths in the Americas, Africa and the Pacific have been a source of economic prosperity, the years since the First Great War have put the country in a state of economic stagnation. The strain of the conflict, even decades later, is still felt my the government and the general populace.

Britain has a relatively hands-off policy in how it handles its colonies. This is reflected in the Dominion status of their holdings, from Jordan-Palestine to Oceania. Compared to France and Portugal, which directly administrate many of their colonies, the UK has maintained the so-called “British System” since the failed American Rebellion.

The UK is, however, economically dependent on imports from their colonies. This makes them, naturally, focus on maintaining that import via a strong navy. This is reflected in their tree. Though not as militarily lacking as our timeline, the armies of the United Kingdom are much less important to their war effort than their navy. As one would expect from a global superpower, the UK similarly has an interest in maintaining their interests across the globe.

The United Kingdom is just one of the many nations to be further developed for Pax Britannica, and I hope to bring more updates in the future. As promised, here’s a quick preview of a section of the UK political tree.
